Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise energy density per weight by reducing the weight of electrode by maxing an inorganic fine hollow particles in active substance. CONSTITUTION:An active substance raw material is mixed with an inorganic fine hollow particles to prepare an active substance paste. As the inorganic fine hollow particles, SiO2-Al2O3-Na2O-K2O particles, sodium borosilicate glass particles, etc., having an apparent specific gravity of 0.1-1.0g/cc, a volumetric specific gravity of 0.1-0.5g/cc, a particle size of 5mu to 1mm, and a particle wall thickness of 2- 14mu, are used selectively depending on the application field of resulting battery. Since no intrusion of electrolyte occurs into the hollow particles because of their low density, the weight of the electrode can be reduced and Wh/kg can therefore be raised.
