Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a storage battery of long life, with glass fibre of minute diameter as its primary material and isolated block consisting of a separator possessing large thickness change rate against load change, and a porous plate with small thickness charge rate. CONSTITUTION:Isolates block 3 is built up with porous plate 1 and sheet-shape separator 2, into layer form where anode plate 4 and cathode plate 5 touch porous plate 1 and sheet-shape separator 2 respectively. Sheet-shape separator 2 of the above isolated block 3 is primarily made of glass fibre of 1mu diameter or less and its rhickness change is larger than 15% when load per unit area is changed from 10kg/dm<2> to 50 kg/dm<2>, and porous plate 1 has been formed in such a way as presenting thickness change 10% or less when the same change of load per unit area is applied. More preferrably, it shall become possible to reduce liquid loss until starting gas absorption and also enhance gas absorption rate, if 0.01-6w% silicon oxide is blended in electrolyte.
