Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the exfoliation of a cadmium compound thin layer as well as raise the consuming reaction of oxygen gas by building up a zinc electrode by forming a cadmium compound thin layer containing zinc or a zinc compound on the surface of a zinc active substance layer. CONSTITUTION:The zinc electrode 1 is formed by forming the cadmium compound thin layer 3 containing zinc or a zinc compound on the zinc active substance layer 2, and then an enclosed type nickel-zinc storage battery, for example, is built up by combining the zinc electrode 1 thus obtained with the nickel electrode 4. The inclusion of approx. 30-70% a cadmium compound in the said cadmium compound thin layer 3 used in the said zinc electrode makes better the tightness with the zinc active substance layer 2 and also prevents the cadmium compound thin layer 3 from exfoliation.
