Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration of a plate core and improve characteristics of an alkaline battery with improved conductivity of active material and adherence to the core, by pressing the zinc active material containing cadmium compound on both sides of the cadmium-coated core.
CONSTITUTION: A zinc plate is formed by pressing zinc active material 1 on both sides of a core 4 which is made by copper net 2 coated with cadmium film 3 with a thickness of several microns. The active material 1 is a mixture containing cadmium compound such as cadmium oxide. This can prevent deterioration of the plate core 4, improve the adherence and conductivity of the active material 1 and also improve the battery characteristics.
