Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a retaining lead battery with excellent high efficiency discharge property by mixing a hydrophilic inert material in a positive electrode active material to distribute the electrolyte in the positive electrode plate and separator homogeneously.
CONSTITUTION: Fibrous or granular hydrophilic material inert to the cell of such as glass, silica, alumina, or titanium oxide is added to the positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material, negative electrode active material, and separator are impregnated with the electrolyte retained. Thus the electrolyte is distributed in the positive electrode comprising lead dioxide poor in hydrophilic property and in the separator, the excellent high efficiency discharge property can be obtained.
