Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the shelf life of a battery by predischarging in specific quantity just after fabrication of the solid electrolyte battery a negative active material of whic is lithium and main positive active material of which is iodine. CONSTITUTION:A metal lithium negative electrode 1, and positive compound 2 the main component of which is iodine are combined with a sealing plate 3 which serves alos as a negative collector, battery case 4 which serves also as a positive collector, and packing 5 to form a battery, and just after the fabrication, the battery is predischarged up to 2mAh/cm<2> area of the lithium negative electrode 1. Thus the deterioration of discharge characteristic during storage at high temperatures is prevented.
