Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve high rate discharge performance by forming the solid solution of copper or zinc with an iron disulfide positive electrode material of an organic solvent battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 and a negative electrode comprising a lithium metal disc are placed in a case 4 with a separator 4 impregnated with an electrolyte and held interposed between them. A negative sealing plate 5 is inserted into the case 4 with a gasket 6 interposed, and the open end of the case 4 is bent inward and sealed to form an organic solvent battery. The positive electrode 1 conprise iron disulfide (FeS2) serving as an active material, and is formed by generating the solid solution of copper or zinc with the iron disulfide. For example, FeS2 powder is mixed with CuS2 powder, and heat- treated in an atmosphere of nitrogen at 300 deg.C for 24hr to obtain the solid solution of FeS2 powder including Cu.
