Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve discharge characteristic and storage property by mixing iron bisulfide heat-treated at a temperature within a special range with a conductive material and a bonding agent and moulding a positive electrode for an organic solvent battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1, a separator 3 and a negative electrode 2. made of a metal lithium disc are placed in a battery case 4. The battery case 4 is sealed with a negative electrode sealing plate 5 through a gasket 6, to form an organic solvent battery. The positive electrode 1 contains iron bisulfuide (FeS2) as a positive electrode active material and is made by mixing the positive electrode active material with a conductive material such as graphite, acethylene black, silver or copper and a bonding agent such as polytetrafluoroethylene or polyethylene and moulding. Iron bisulfide heat-treated at a temperature within the range of 200-350 deg.C is used therefor.
