Abstract

PURPOSE: To make high rate discahrge characteristics better by rising the concentration of sulfuric acid necessary for discharge in the vicinity of active substance by the procedure in which a porous substance is mixed in the active substance of plate and electrolyte is held in a space between the active substances and in the porous substance.
CONSTITUTION: A porous substance, e.g., foamed silica or silica gel, etc., having a porosity larger than those of both positive and nagative active substances, is mixed in both or any one of positive and negative pole pastes and also the amount of sulfuric acid electrolyte is limited to 1.2mg or less per 1g of the positive active substance. Because the strength of the porous substance itself becomes smaller when the porosity of the porous substance to be added is more than 95%, it should be lowered to less than 95%, and also the preferred amount of the porous substance to add to the active substance is 1∼20%.
