Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the rapid discharge characteristics specially those at low temperature by including in the lead paste minute hollow members of electrolyte resisting property having numbers of pore on their surface. CONSTITUTION:A lead paste is made by kneading a mixture mainly consisting of lead powder, water, dilute sulfuric acid, etc., and coated on an electrode supporting member such as a lattice member etc. to form a paste type lead electrode, said lead paste containing minute hollow members of electrolyte resisting property having numbers of pore on their surface, said minute hollow members mainly consisting of, for example, aluminum silicate particles having the diameter of 20-300mu and being mixed to the lead powder with the ratio of 1-20g of such particles to 1kg of lead powder and being made by containing 2-30wt% of acid soluble composition such as iron oxide, potassium oxide, etc., therein and having them acid treated to dissolve such composition away.
