Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide both of an effect of stopping flow and an effect of preventing oxidation by mixing specific ratios of an oxidation preventive liquid consisting of alcohol of C1-C4, boron oxide and sodium tetraborate and oxide powder and preparing the mixture into paste. CONSTITUTION:The oxidation preventive liquid consisting, by weight, of 65-85% alcohol of Cl-C4, 10-30% boron oxide and<=5% sodium tetraborate is prepd. On the other hand, the stable oxide powder of MgO, Al2O3, TiO2, chromium oxide, calcia, etc., which are the material to stop flow at the time of brazing is prepd. The above-mentioned oxidation preventive liquid and oxide powder are mixed at 1:0.3-1:1 ratio by weight and the mixture is made into the paste, by which the stop off agent for brazing is obtd. This stop-off agent can be evenly coated on the surface of metallic materials even if the surface has some fats and oils. The coated agent evaporates rapidly and forms a uniform stop-off agent layer which has the effect of preventing oxidation and stopping the flow even at a relatively high temp.
