Abstract

PURPOSE: To strengthen the capillery operation of a heat pipe by causing wicks consisting of superfine fibers subjected to metal coating to tightly adhere to the inner walls of the container of a pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of a filament consisting of a number of superfine fibers made of synthetic fibers of a thickness of 0.7 deniers, for example, are coated with a thin metal layer 2 to form wicks 3 for use in the heat pipe. The wicks 3 are caused to tightly adhere to the inner walls of the container 4 of the heat pipe thereby to form the heat pipe. Since wicks of a superfine sectional shape are used in the heat pipe, the capillery operation of the working liquid can be strengthened.
