Abstract
PURPOSE:To form the titled coating layer without deficiencies such as oxidation, void or the like by plasma spraying a plasma spraying material other than a self-melting alloy, to the surface of a matrix material being heated to a specific temp. under a non-oxidative atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a matrix material is heated to a temp range between a lower melting temp of either one of the matrix material and a plasma spraying powder and a temp. 400 deg.C lower than said melting temp. To this heated matrix material, the plasma spraying powder other than a self-melting alloy is plasma sprayed in a non-oxidative atmosphere. In this case, the atmosphere when the plasma spraying is carried out is controlled so as to adjust oxygen partial pressure to 10<-3> or less. Further, the plasma spraying material used in the plasma spraying is not restrained especially and either one of a metal, an alloy, a compound or a mixed powder thereof can be used. By this method, excessive diffusion of the matrix material to a plasma sprayed layer and a wasteful use of heat energy are prevented and the plasma layer without internal deficiencies can be obtained within a short time.
