Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the mechanical strength of a magnetic body, by mixing the first powder containing rare-earth elements and cobalt and the second powder containing more quantity of cobalt than the first powder and sintering them.
CONSTITUTION: Rare-earth cobalt magnetic materials are expressed by a general formula RnCom. The amount and/or composition of the cobalt powder or the second powder are so determined that the desired composition of the rare-earth cobalt magnetic material can be obtained while containing 20% or less to the first powder as the total amount set 100%. The first and second powders are independently dissolved and crushed, and then they are mixed. Compression, sintering, solution treatment, and the like after the mixing are performed according to a conventional procedure. In the sintering process, solid diffusion or liquid-phase diffusion is caused between the second and first powders, and desired magnetic characteristics can be obtained, together with the follow-on aging treatment, and the mechanical strength can be increased.
