Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare tablets containing uniform amount of the effective component and having improved disintegration properties, at low cost, by directly tableting a composition comprising a given amount of β-1,4-glucan powder having a specific particle size distribution, an effective component, and the other additives, under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Powder composition comprising β-1,4-glucan powder (e.g. fine crystalline cellulose such as Avicel, etc.), an effective component and the other additives. The β-1,4-glucan powder passes 42 mesh sieve and ≥60wt% of the powder passes 100mesh; about 40W80wt% of that passes 325 mesh; about 20W 60wt% of that remains on 325 mesh sieve. When the content of the effective component is ≥50wt%, the maximum particle size thereof is ≤350μ and the average particle size is ≤210μ. The powder composition is homogeneously mixed to keep the fluctuation of the content of the effective component within 2%, and is directly tableted under special conditions to give the objective solid drug.
