Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent plasmolysis phenomenon and evaporation of the moisture in a battery, by gelatinizing the mixed sol of silicic anhydride with different particle diameters by means of sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:A silicic anhydride sol containing 20wt% of silicic anhydride with a particle diameter of 10-20mmu and a silicic anhydride sol containing 20wt% of silicic anhydride with a particle diameter of 40-50mmu are mixed at the volume ratio of 1:1 to make a mixed sol. Into the mixed sol, sulfuric acid is added to make a mixture, which is poured into a battery cell 5 and gelatinized in order to form a gel-like (colloid) electrolyte 6; the inside of the former battery being preliminarily equipped with negative plates 1, positive plates 2, and electrode plate groups 4 composed of separators 3.
