Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize fuel unit and achieve energy saving by so calculating the fuel consumption of respective heat patterns through the heat balance calculation of the soaking pit that a desired firing state is obtained at the designated steel ingot extraction time and performing furnace temperature controlling. CONSTITUTION:A steel ingot is put in the soaking pit and the firing state of that time is obtained by using a heat transfer model. Thence, fuel consumption is calculated by using the heat balance model of the time when the steel ingot is put in the soaking pit. From the temperature state at the putting-in into the soaking pit and the calculated fuel consumption, the optimum heat pattern which satisfies the steel ingot firing conditions and minimizes the fuel consumption is calculated. If the furnace temperature controlling is perfomed by this optimum heat pattern, the increase in the fuel consumption may be kept minimum even if there in a change in the designation of the extraction time after the start of soaking. In addition, the firing state of the steel ingot becomes stable.
