Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a continuous casting plant of much enhanced energy conservation effect in particular by installing an ingot cutter just behind the outlet side of the final guide rolls in an ingot guide device for the ingots to be cast continuosly.
CONSTITUTION: This continuous casting plant is provided with an ingot cutter 7 just behind the outlet side of the final guide rolls 4 of an ingot guide device. Since it is so constituted as to permit immediate cutting of an ingot 2 in a high temp. state out from the rolls 4, there is virtually no idle time until the ingot reaches the position of the device 7, and the loss of heat in the process of cutting the ingot 2 out from the rolls 4 and supplying the same to a hot rolling process is prevented. Since the ingot 2 immediate after solidificaton out from the rolls 4 is cut by the gas nozzle 8 of the device 7, the cutting of the ingot 2 is easy. Here, 1 in the figure denotes a mold, 5 a dummy bar hoisting device, 6 a dummy bar upper loading device, and 10 an ingot cutting control chamber, respectively.
