Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a continuously cast ingot of uniform quality easily by controlling the drawing time and waiting time in accordance with the temps. of continuously cast iron bars and predetermined programs in drawing the molten cast iron in a holding furnace by a continuous casting method.
CONSTITUTION: Molten cast iron 2 in a holding furnace 1 is drawn with rollers 5 from a graphite made mold provided with a water cooler 4, whereby a continuously cast bar 6 of cast iron is produced. In this cae, the process of drawing the bar 6 at a constant speed from the furnace 1 and the waiting process for maintaining this drawing state are made one cycle, and the temp. of the bar 6 is measured with a thermometer 8. In the steady state of the predetermined reference temp., the steady drawing is accomplished at the predetermined drawing time and waiting time. When molten is poured freshly into the holding furnace, the drawing time and waiting time are controlled depending upon conditions in accordance with the programs incorporated into a control part 9, whereby the waiting time is decreased successively stepwise, and it is shifted to the steady drawing.
