Abstract

PURPOSE:To save energy by providing devices of cladding heat insulating materials on a high temp. ingot after continuous casting in succession to a device of cutting said ingot and providing devices of removing the heat insulating materials prior to the introduction of the ingot into a hot rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:A high temp. ingot 9 cast continuously with a continuous casting mold 3 is cut with a gas cutter 10. In succession to this gas cutter 10, adhering materials 13-1, 2 for heat dissipation preventing materials are provided on the top and bottom surfaces in the advance direction of the ingot 9. These devices inject adhesive heat insulating materials over the entire surface of the ingot 9 or to arbitrary parts thereof, thereby cladding the heat insulating materials on the ingot 9. The adhered heat insulating materials are removed by horizontal rolls 14 and a roughing mill 16, after which the ingot is introduced into a hot rolling mill.
