Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the heat energy consumption in a heating furnace and at the same time enhance the producitivity by sequentially changing the furnace temperature in heating zones so that steel strip approaches the target discharging temperature as much as possible and reducing the furnace temperature on the entire or charging side as much as possible, when heating steel strips in a continuous heating furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In a continuous steel strip heating furnace consisting of many heating zones, the temperature in each heating zone is determined so that the steel strips discharged from the heating furnace reach the target discharging temperature. At this time, calculation is made on the discharging temperature of steel strips at reference temperature in any heating zone, and from this reference temperature, the relational equation is obtained between the change in the furnace temperature and the change in steel strip discharging temperature. Based on the equation and by selecting several steel strips coming into the heating zone, the temperature changes in any heating zones are determined to minimize the fuel consumption in the heating furnace, under the condition that all steel strips become the target discharge temperature. Steel strips are sequentially heated in heating zones having the so determined temperature and are withdrawn at the target temperature from the furnace.
