CONSTITUTION: A composition containing (A) (2S,5R),3,3-dimethyl-7-oxo-4-thia- 1-azacyclo[3,2,0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid 4,4-dioxide (CP-45899) of formula I or its salt, which is a β-lactamase-inhibiting substance, and (B) a compound of formula II (R1 is H or OH) or its salt. The pref. weight ratio of (A) to (B) is 1 to 15W1 to 1. Although the compound (B) has a broad antibacterial spectrum from gram positive bacteria to gram negative bacteria, it has rather poor activity to highly resistant bacteria. The activity of the compound can be improved by adding the compound (A) to an extent to exhibit a practical effect even to a species of Pseudomonas aeruginosa having RP4 or Rms-139 as an R-factor.
