Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an antibacterial composition having strong synergistic effect esp. to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and low side effects, containing a specific D(-)- cephalosporin analog and an aminoglycoside antibiotic compound.
CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial composition containing (A) a D(-)-cephalosporin analog of formula (R1 is H, OH lower alkoxycarbonyloxy, acyloxy; R2 is H, halogen nitro; R3 is lower alkyl; R4 is acetoxy, heterocylcic thio; n is 1, 2), e.g. 7-[D-(-)- α-(4-ehyl-2,3-dioxpopiperazin-2-ylcarbonylamino)-p-ethyoxycarbonyloxy-phnylacetamido]-3-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-ylthiomethyl)-3cephem-4-carboxylic acid, and (B) an aminoglycoside antibiotic compound such as deoxykanamycin, amikacin, etc. The ratio of (A) to (B) is 200:1-1:2, usually 100:1-1:1, pref. 50:1-30:1.
