Abstract

PURPOSE: Two reactor wires are connected in their polarities so that both currents in the same direction can cause both magnetic fluxes in the same direction. This causes nearly squared wave form useful for arc stabilization.
CONSTITUTION: When welding electrode is in positive half wave, that is, in negative polarity, welding current passes 3-6-7-8-9. When the welding electrode is in negative half wave, that is, in positive polarity, welding current passes 9-8-7-4-5. In polarity conversion from positive to negative, electromagnetic energy stored in inductance (reactor wire) 3 is discharged to cause a sharp current drop to zero, next half wave conversion discharges electromagnetic energy stored in inductance (reactor wire) 4, resulting in a sharp current rise. The operations repeat to provide an alternating current having squared wave form.
