Abstract

PURPOSE: To make refiring of AC arc easy without adding any special device by so connecting at least two proximate consumable electrodes to the AC power source as to give phase differences between the electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: For example, the eletrodes A of two consumable electrodes A, B is conncted to the secondary side of a welding transformer 2 whose primary side is connected to 3 phase AC v, w power sources and the electrodes B is connected to a welding transformer 3 whose primary side is connected to the u, v power sources. The welding current of the electrode A becomes zero at the a point. On the other hand, the welding current of the electrode B is late 60° in phase than the former and therefore at the a point it is the b point and the currents ab flow, thus generating normal arc to the weld base metal 1. Hence, if both electrodes are beforehand approached to a required degree based on the phase differences of both current and each current value, then the arc of the electrode B becomes a trigger at the a point of the electrode and the electrode A is readily refired. Even at the b' point, the electrode B is readily refired in the similar manner.
