Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the temperature performance of resonant frequency, by coupling the fundamental diapason oscillation of the diapason type crystal oscillator having comparatively lower resonant frequency with the fundamental bending oscillation orthogonal to it. CONSTITUTION:The oscillator is made of the crystal plate rotating the Z axis around X axis counterclockwise by phi and taking an angle of theta from the Z axis counterclockwise, taking Y' axis as the center. The electrodes 62 to 65 opposing up and down are placed on the arm of diapason of the oscillator (lateral cross section) and the bending oscillation in X'Y' and Y'Z' plane is oscillated with the electric fields 66 to 69 caused by it. Taking the resonant frequency of the diapason oscillation a bending oscillation is taken respectively as f1 and f2, the width of the arm of diapason as W and the thickness as t, the primary coefficient alpha of the temperature characteristics of f1-f2 and f1 is changed with the variation of W/t, and alpha=0 at a certain W/t. Further, when the cut angles phi and theta from raw stone are changed, the angle minimizing the secondary coefficient beta relating to the temperature is present. The temperature characteristics of f1 can remarkably be improved with these results.
