Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the low temperature coefficient temperature without changing the overall size as well as to employ for high precision electronic wrist watch by oscillating the crystal oscillators of compound crystal oscillator in the secondary higher harmonic mode. CONSTITUTION:Compound crystal oscillator made up of two crystal oscillators of different frequency temperature characteristic connected electrically in parallel is provided. The resonance frequency of this crystal oscillator is shown by a formula which is in proportion to r<2> w/l<2> where w, l and r are the width, length and constant of oscillating arm, respectively. In case of the fundamental oscillation, constant r is approximately r1=0.9375 and in case of the secondary high frequency, it is approximately r2=2.347. This tuning fork type oscillator is oscillated by the secondary r1 to r2 and, therefore, when width w of oscillating arm is constant, the side ratio w/l becomes equal to r2/r1, thus enabling to obtain frequency approximately 2.5 times more than the side ratio. The same arrangement can be applied to the frequency-temperature characteristic, that is, by using the secondary high freqnency, the side-ratio can be increased approxmiately 2.5 times without changing the size of oscillator, thus enabling to extensively increase the low temperature coefficient temperature.
