Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the mass-production of long and AT cut rectangular crystal oscillators, by selecting the length l of the crystal chip in AT-cut toward X axis, the width W toward Z' axis, the thickness t toward Y' axis, and W/t and l/t in a given region of plane taking coordinate axis. CONSTITUTION:The end of the length l of the crystal chip is made bevel or convex shape, and the coordinates (W/l, l/t) are selected in a square of (3, 16, 15, 19) (3, 40, 15, 75)(3, 49, 15, 12)(3, 30, 15, 17). Thus, the parasitic oscillation of greater response is avoided and that of smaller response is isolated from the major oscillation. Further,by tilting the XY' plane by about 5 deg., the oscillator is made equivalent as the At-cut for an infinite plate. Then, small in size, less in the efefect of parasitic oscillation, excellent in the frequency temperature performance, and possible for machining accuracy, rectangular oscillators can be obtained with possible mass-production.
