Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain miniaturization and high precision by providing an AT-cut quartz with oscillating arms in the X-axial direction. CONSTITUTION:In the X-axial direction of the AT-cut quartz, oscillating arms 9 and 10 are provided. The main surface is a Y'-cut surface or Z'-cut surface and the entire shape is like a tuning fork. Electrodes 10 and 11 providing thickness-sliding oscillations are provided on the oscillating arms opposing to each other. Since they are supported by the base part, the oscillating arms are free. Therefore, the original high precision characteristics of the AT-cut can be maintained. Additionally, many oscillators can be mass-produced from one wafer.
