Abstract

(57)【要約】 【課題】層間で石油樹脂の含有量が異なる多層構造のポ
リプロピレン系の熱収縮フィルムを使用しても、レトル
ト殺菌処理に伴う層間のズレによる外観の悪化が生じな
い筒状シュリンクラベルを提供する。 【解決手段】石油樹脂を0〜10重量%含有したポリプ
ロピレン系樹脂からなる表面層11、12と、石油樹脂
を15〜50重量%含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂から
なる中間層13とを備えた、3層構造の熱収縮フィルム
10を、その熱収縮方向の両端部同士を相互に重ね合わ
せることにより筒状に形成し、その重ね合わせ部分の内
周面側に、熱収縮フィルム10の熱収縮方向に延びる多
数の突条を備えたローレットを圧接すると共に前記重ね
合わせ部分の外周面側に、超音波溶着機の加振子を圧接
した状態で超音波溶着することにより、重ね合わせ部分
に、細かい刻み目21の入った超音波シール部20を形
成する。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【発明の属する技術分野】この発明は、飲料容器である
ガラス瓶等に外装される筒状シュリンクラベル、特に、
コーヒー飲料等のように、内容物を充填した後にレトル
ト殺菌処理が行われるものに適した筒状シュリンクラベ
ルに関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術】ガラス瓶に充填されたコーヒー飲料のよ
うに、内容物を容器に充填した後、レトルト殺菌処理を
行うものにあっては、その容器に装着されるシュリンク
ラベル自体に耐熱性が要求されるため、耐熱性の優れた
ポリプロピレン系の熱収縮フィルムによって形成された
シュリンクラベルが一般的に使用されている。
【0003】しかし、ポリプロピレン系の熱収縮フィル
ムは、熱収縮させる際に必要な熱量が大きく、熱収縮さ
せた状態での容器への密着性がよくないといった問題が
あったため、石油樹脂を混合することにより、熱収縮温
度を低下させたポリプロピレン系の熱収縮フィルムが開
発されている。
【0004】このように、ポリプロピレン系の熱収縮フ
ィルムに石油樹脂を混合すると、熱収縮温度が低下する
だけでなく、フィルム自体の腰が強くなると共に透明性
が向上するという利点があるが、石油樹脂の含有量が大
きくなると、フィルム自体に粘つきが生じ、この粘つき
が、レトルト殺菌処理によりさらに増大されると共に、
原料コストが高くなるといった問題がある。
【0005】このため、フィルム自体を3層構造とし
て、その表面層における石油樹脂の含有量を少なくする
と共に、中間層における石油樹脂の含有量を大きくする
ことにより、上述した「粘つき」、「コスト高」といっ
た欠点を解消している。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】ところで、図8(a)
に示すように、表面層51、52と中間層53との間で
石油樹脂の含有量を変えた3層構造のポリプロピレン系
の熱収縮フィルムの熱収縮方向の両端部を、接着剤54
を介して重ね合わせて相互に固着することにより、筒状
のシュリンクラベル50を形成すると、表面層51の一
端側と表面層52の他端側とが前記接着剤54を介して
接着されるだけなので、表面層51の他端側、表面層5
2の一端側及び中間層53の両端側がそれぞれ開放され
た状態となる。
【0007】従って、このシュリンクラベル50を容器
に装着した状態で熱収縮させた後、さらに高温(110
℃〜130℃)でレトルト殺菌処理を行うと、同図
(b)に示すように、各層51、52、53がそれぞれ
個別に収縮して、それぞれの開放端部分で層間のズレが
生じ、特に、外側に露出しているフィルム端部に層間の
ズレが生じると、外観が悪くなるといった問題がある。
【0008】そこで、この発明の課題は、上述したよう
に、層間で石油樹脂の含有量が異なる多層構造のポリプ
ロピレン系の熱収縮フィルムを使用しても、レトルト殺
菌処理に伴う層間のズレによる外観の悪化が生じない筒
状シュリンクラベルを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】上記の課題を解決するた
め、この発明は、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を0〜1
0重量%含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる表面層
と、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を15〜50重量%含
有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる中間層とを備え
た、多層構造の熱収縮フィルムを、その熱収縮方向の両
端部同士を相互に重ね合わせることにより筒状に形成
し、その重ね合わせ部分の内周面側に、前記熱収縮フィ
ルムの熱収縮方向に延びる多数の突条を備えたローレッ
トを圧接すると共に前記重ね合わせ部分の外周面側に、
超音波溶着機の加振子を圧接するように、前記重ね合わ
せ部分を前記ローレットと前記加振子とによって挟み込
んだ状態で超音波溶着することにより、前記重ね合わせ
部分に、細かい刻み目の入った超音波シールを施した筒
状シュリンクラベルを提供するものである。
【0010】この筒状シュリンクラベルでは、前記重ね
合わせ部分の外側の熱収縮フィルムが前記刻み目部分で
押しつぶされ、その外側の熱収縮フィルムの端面が内側
の熱収縮フィルムの外周面に溶着された状態となってい
る。
【0011】また、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を0〜
10重量%含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる表面
層と、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を15〜50重量%
含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる中間層とを備え
た、熱収縮性を有する熱収縮フィルムを、その熱収縮方
向の両端部を相互に重ね合わせることにより、または相
互に突き合わせることにより、筒状に形成し、その重ね
合わせ部分または突き合せ部分の外周面側にテープを貼
着することにより、前記熱収縮フィルムの両端部が相互
に接続された筒状シュリンクラベルを形成することもで
きる。
【0012】この筒状シュリンクラベルでは、熱収縮フ
ィルムの外側の表面層同士が熱接着テープによって接続
されているので、前記熱収縮フィルムの外側の表面層の
収縮が阻止される。
【0013】
【発明の実施の形態】以下、実施の形態について図面を
参照して説明する。図1ないし図3に示すように、この
筒状シュリンクラベル1は、内容物を充填した後にレト
ルト殺菌処理が施されるコーヒー飲料等の容器であるガ
ラス瓶に装着されるものであり、ポリプロピレン系樹脂
からなる熱収縮フィルム10を、その熱収縮方向の両端
部同士を相互に重ね合わせることにより筒状に形成し、
その重ね合わせ部分を超音波溶着することにより、その
重ね合わせ部分に超音波シール部20を形成したもので
ある。
【0014】前記熱収縮フィルム10は、石油樹脂を0
〜10重量%含有するポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる表
面層11、12と、この表面層11、12間に挟み込ま
れた、石油樹脂を15〜50重量%含有するポリプロピ
レン系樹脂からなる中間層13とを備えた3層構造であ
り、このようにポリプロピレン樹脂に石油樹脂を混合し
たのは、耐熱性に優れているというポリプロピレン系樹
脂の特質を生かしながらフィルム自体の熱収縮温度を低
下させると共に、腰が強く、透明性の高いフィルムにす
るためであり、中間層13に比べて表面層11、12の
石油樹脂の含有量を低く抑えたのは、石油樹脂を混合す
ることによるフィルム表面の粘つきを防止すると共にフ
ィルム自体の原料コストを抑えるためである。
【0015】なお、ポリプロピレン系樹脂に混合する石
油樹脂の代わりに、テルペン樹脂を使用することがで
き、石油樹脂とテルペン樹脂の混合物を使用することも
できる。また、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂は、水素化
したものを使用してもよく、特に、水素化した石油樹脂
(いわゆる水添石油樹脂)が熱分解や変性に強く、熱安
定性が良いため、フィルムを着色させたり、異物を発生
したりすることが少ない。
【0016】前記超音波シール部20は、図4に示すよ
うに、前記熱収縮フィルム10の重ね合わせ部分の内周
面(表面層12)側に、前記熱収縮フィルム10の熱収
縮方向(周方向)に延びる多数の突条aを外周に備えた
ローレットAを圧接すると共に、前記重ね合わせ部分の
外周面(表面層11)側に、超音波溶着機の加振子Bを
圧接するようにして、前記重ね合わせ部分を前記ローレ
ットAと前記加振子Bとによって挟み込んだ状態で超音
波溶着することにより形成されたものであり、この超音
波シール部20には、図1に示すように、一定間隔で細
かい刻み目21が多数形成されている。
【0017】前記刻み目21では、図2及び図3に示す
ように、前記ローレットAの突条aと加振子Bとによっ
て挟み込まれている領域が部分的に発熱することで、そ
の突条aに対応して加振子Bに接触している外側の熱収
縮フィルム10が主として溶融し、その溶融部分が突条
aと加振子Bとによって圧接されることで潰されるの
で、外側の熱収縮フィルム10の端面が内側の熱収縮フ
ィルム10の表面(表面層11)に溶着されている。
【0018】以上のように、この筒状シュリンクラベル
1では、前記熱収縮フィルム10の重ね合わせ部分にお
いて、外側の熱収縮フィルム10の表面層12のみなら
ず、表面層11及び中間層13が、それぞれ内側の熱収
縮フィルム10の表面層11に溶着されているので、こ
の筒状シュリンクラベル1をガラス瓶に装着した状態
で、レトルト殺菌処理した場合でも、レトルト殺菌に伴
う加熱によって表面層11が熱収縮を起こすことがな
く、従来のように、表面層がずれて外観を損ねるといっ
た問題が生じない。
【0019】なお、前記刻み目21は、上述したような
ものに限定されるものではなく、ローレットの突条の形
状を変えることにより、例えば、図5(a)に示すよう
な連続したジグザグ状の刻み目21aや、同図(b)に
示すような斜線状の刻み目21bや、同図(c)に示す
ような網目状の刻み目21cを形成してもよい。
【0020】図6は他の実施形態を示している。この筒
状シュリンクラベル2は、上述した3層構造の熱収縮フ
ィルム10を、その熱収縮方向の両端部同士を相互に突
き合わせることにより筒状に形成し、その突き合せ部分
の外周面側にテープ30を貼着することによって、前記
熱収縮フィルム10の両端部を相互に接続したものであ
る。
【0021】前記テープ30は、耐熱性を有する二軸延
伸ポリエステルフィルム、二軸延伸ポリプロピレンフィ
ルム、または前記熱収縮フィルム10と同方向に熱収縮
するポリプロピレン系フィルムからなるテープ基材と、
このテープ基材の片面に形成された接着層とから構成さ
れており、前記接着層は、耐熱性を有する二液硬化型ポ
リウレタン系樹脂よりなる接着剤や耐熱性を有する熱接
着性樹脂によって形成することができる。
【0022】以上のように構成された筒状シュリンクラ
ベル2は、外周面側の表面層11同士がテープ30によ
って相互に固着されているため、この筒状シュリンクラ
ベル2をガラス瓶に装着した状態で、レトルト殺菌処理
した場合でも、表面層11が熱収縮を起こすことがな
く、従来のように、表面層がずれて外観を損ねるといっ
た問題が生じない。
【0023】なお、前記筒状シュリンクラベル2は、熱
収縮フィルム10の突き合せ部分の外周面側をテープ3
0によって相互に固着しているが、例えば、図7に示す
ように、突き合せ部分の外周面側だけでなく、内周面側
についても同様の熱接着テープ30によって相互に固着
しても良い。
【0024】また、前記筒状シュリンクラベル2は、熱
収縮フィルム10の両端部を相互に突き合わせている
が、厳密に突き合わせる必要はなく、熱収縮フィルム1
0の両端部間に僅かな隙間が形成されたものであっても
よい。
【0025】また、上述した実施形態と異なる形態とし
て、熱収縮フィルム10の両端部を相互に重ね合わせ、
その重ね合わせ部分の外周面側にテープを貼着すること
で、熱収縮フィルム10の両端部を相互に接続するよう
にしてもよく、さらに、重ね合わせ部分の内周面側にテ
ープを貼着してもよい。
【0026】また、上述した各実施形態では、3層構造
の熱収縮フィルムを使用しているが、石油樹脂の含有量
の異なる表面層と中間層とが存在していればよく、例え
ば、中間層が多層構造のものであってもよい。

【発明の効果】以上のように、この発明の筒状シュリン
クラベルは、多層構造の熱収縮フィルムの重ね合わせ部
分をローレットと加振子とによって挟み込んだ状態で超
音波溶着することにより、その重ね合わせ部分に細かい
刻み目の入った超音波シールを施すようにしたため、そ
の重ね合わせ部分の外側の熱収縮フィルムが刻み目部分
で押しつぶされ、外側の熱収縮フィルムの端面が内側の
熱収縮フィルムの外周面に溶着された状態、即ち、外側
の表面層の両端同士が相互に固着された状態になってい
るので、この筒状シュリンクラベルが容器に装着された
状態でレトルト殺菌処理が行われても、外側の表面層が
収縮することがなく、容器に装着されたラベルの外観を
損なうことがないといった効果がある。
【0028】また、熱収縮フィルムの重ね合わせ部分ま
たは突き合せ部分の外周面側にテープを貼着することに
より、前記熱収縮フィルムの両端部を相互に接続した筒
状シュリンクラベルにあっては、熱収縮フィルムの外側
の表面層同士がテープを介して接続されているので、レ
トルト殺菌処理に伴う熱収縮フィルムの外側の表面層の
収縮が阻止され、上記筒状シュリンクラベルと同様の効
果が得られる。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を0〜10
    重量%含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる表面層
    と、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を15〜50重量%含
    有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる中間層とを備え
    た、多層構造の熱収縮フィルムを、その熱収縮方向の両
    端部同士を相互に重ね合わせることにより筒状に形成
    し、 その重ね合わせ部分の内周面側に、前記熱収縮フィルム
    の熱収縮方向に延びる多数の突条を備えたローレットを
    圧接すると共に前記重ね合わせ部分の外周面側に、超音
    波溶着機の加振子を圧接するように、前記重ね合わせ部
    分を前記ローレットと前記加振子とによって挟み込んだ
    状態で超音波溶着することにより、前記重ね合わせ部分
    に、細かい刻み目の入った超音波シールを施した筒状シ
    ュリンクラベル。
  2. 【請求項2】 石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を0〜10
    重量%含有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる表面層
    と、石油樹脂またはテルペン樹脂を15〜50重量%含
    有したポリプロピレン系樹脂からなる中間層とを備え
    た、多層構造の熱収縮フィルムを、その熱収縮方向の両
    端部を相互に重ね合わせることにより、または相互に突
    き合わせることにより、筒状に形成し、 その重ね合わせ部分または突き合せ部分の外周面側にテ
    ープを貼着することによって、前記熱収縮フィルムの両
    端部を相互に接続した筒状シュリンクラベル。
