Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は医療用磁気共鳴イメージングの分野に属し、磁
気共鳴イメージングと共に用いるためのカテーテル装置
に関する。
従来の技術 カテーテル処置は生体内での検出技術の変化に対して改
良されてきた。イメージング手段に関して、カテーテル
装置はカテーテルが用いられるべき特別な処置を完遂す
るために正確に配置されることもある。
核磁気共鳴(NMR)イメージングにおいて、干渉性の
核の磁化(概して水素原子核の磁化)の空間密度分布が
描かれ、水素を含む物質に対する走査装置の感度は、も
し後者が、イメージング装置においてその周辺よりも実
質的に良く見えるならば、カテーテルの進行の記録のた
めの基礎を形成する。もし、カテーテルの構造上の一部
分がまわりの組織よりも単に、より多くの水素を含んで
いるということならばカテーテルは検知できるが、限界
は有効なコントラスト上に置かれる。加えて、カテーテ
ルの近くの周辺にある組織はぼやけるかも知れない。更
に、多くのカテーテルは光ガイド、切削装置、電極線及
び体液に対して化学的に不活性な物質でできた半硬性の
外装に含まれる類いのような機能的要素から成る。これ
らの機能的要素は磁気共鳴イメージングを滅損する傾向
があり、分析結果を失わせ、カテーテル末端の臨界位置
をより不確定にする。本発明はNMRコントラストの制
限をカテーテル先端部において局限され、制御可能な磁
場を準備することによって克服し、それにより、先端の
位置はNMRイメージング内で明白に決定される。
発明の概要 本発明は一対の近接したフォイル導体であって、カテー
テル外装物質内に埋め込まれ、カテーテル先端部でルー
プ内において電気的に成端しているストリップ線路(st
rip line)によって提供される。導体は外装の磁化率と
実質的に調和するように構成されている。弱い双極子場
は交互のイメージング間隔の間、電流パルスによって励
磁され、その結果それら交互のイメージング間隔の間、
NMR画像の局所的滅損(degradation)を起こす。直
前のイメージング間隔はそこでカテーテル先端部のルー
プを正確に位置決めするために負のモードに結合させら
れる。
好適実施例 第1図は本発明のブロック図である。イメージング装置
10は、数多くの磁気共鳴イメージング装置の何れか1つ
である。このような装置は特殊化した磁気モーメントの
分布に対する2次元または3次元の空間的な感度を示
す。その特別な装置は決定的なものではなく、イメージ
が重要な領域で形成されることが必須であるにすぎな
い。イメージング装置10は患者14に磁場分布H(x,y,z,
t)をかけるためのマグネット装置12を有し、RFコイ
ル構造物18を介してRF電源16から回転磁場が得られ
る。受信器20は共鳴信号に応答し、イメージプロセッサ
(image processor)22は再び空間関数f(x,y,z)を構
成し、それより所望の投影、例えばf(x,y)がディ
スプレイ装置24によって、図的に描写される。カテーテ
ル制御器28と共に本発明のカテーテル26が以下のように
より十分に検討されている。
第2図を参照すると、カテーテル構造物の一部の縦断面
図が示されている。外装30は好適には良い断熱性と絶縁
特製及び比較的低い磁化率の特徴を有する強化されたフ
ッ素樹脂で構成される。その目的に適する物質の1つは
テフロン(Teflon)又はケルフ(Kelf)である。
外装30はその壁内に一対の導体32及び32′が埋め込まれ
ている。これらは好適には伝導性物質のめっき又は他の
蒸着技術によって得られたフォイル化合物から形成さ
れ、実質的に外装の磁化率と調和する所望の磁化率の合
成物を得る。磁化率を調和させるための技術は米国特許
出願第482,344号にお記載されている。このようにカテ
ーテルの磁気的不可視性が維持される。フォイル導体は
距離をおいて分離されてストリップ線路を形成し、その
距離は他の導体の大きさに比べて短い。ストリップ線路
上のパルス伝達は実質的にそれによって制限された領域
に制限され、また、その領域の外部にある孤立した磁場
を効果的に打ち消す。
カテーテル先端部34は、導体32及び32′を接続するルー
プ36を有している。ループの存在する平面は好適にはカ
テーテルの対称軸37を横断することである。短いパルス
源によって励磁されるとき、ループは第3図にあるよう
に双極磁場40を支持し、その磁場は磁気共鳴イメージン
グディスプレイ上にイメージカーソルを提供するNMR
イメージを局所的に歪ませる。カーソルの空間的伸びが
最小になるために弱い励磁を用いることが好ましい。
本発明の主要な目的はカテーテル先端部の正確な位置決
め及び監視である。低磁化率の機能的要素である光導体
又はそれと同様のものがカテーテル外装中に突き通さ
れ、カテーテルは選ばれた血管を通って検査する位置に
向けられる。この位置決め操作の間、カテーテルループ
の励磁は連続的に近接するNMRイメージ獲得の間じゅ
う交互に断続する。これはカテーテル制御器28によって
達成される。イメージの獲得には2〜3秒間の時間がか
かり、組になった連続的イメージはカテーテル先端部の
位置を強調するために、好適にはプロセッサー22によっ
て取替えられるモードと比較される。カテーテル制御器
28とプロセッサー22の同期化は容易である。好適には、
プロセッサー22は交互に連続するイメージと同時発生の
信号を供給してカテーテル先端部の弱い磁場40を活動化
する。取替可能なモードイメージ情報はイメージカーソ
ルを形成し、それは、好適には同じイメージの付加され
たディスプレイ又はまさにその最も新しい単一イメージ
上に重ねられる。このようにカテーテル先端部が置かれ
るので、低い磁化率の機能的要素が除去されてもよく、
また、所望の要素がカテーテル外装に挿入されてもよ
い。このような他の要素は伝導性又は高磁化率を示し、
もしそうでなければ位置決め操作ステップの間、NMR
イメージに反対の影響を及ぼすとみなせる。
カテーテル先端部からのパルス場の使用は、イメージの
計算をカテーテル先端部の燐接領域内のピクセルの数に
限定することによってスピードアップされる。この技術
は好適にはカテーテルの先端に中心を置いたこの“拡大
された”イメージを保つための適切なアルゴリズムと連
結される。そのときCRTディスプレイは体内を移動す
るカテーテルのある程度即時的な映像を提供する。好適
なディスプレイモードにおいて、操作者はフラッシング
(flashing)の強さ又は灰色で制御できる対照色に従っ
てカテーテルの先端を見、また、表示されたピクセルの
領域内のNMR信号の分析を最大化するように選択され
た色スケールを見る。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】被験者の組織構成物の特性を表す選択され
    た磁気パラメータの空間分布を得るための磁気共鳴イメ
    ージング装置と前記被験者に挿入するためのカテーテル
    との組合わせ装置において、 前記カテーテルが該カテーテルの局所付近の磁場を制御
    可能に乱すための手段を有し、それによって前記磁気共
    鳴イメージング装置と相互作用する、ところの装置。
  2. 【請求項2】特許請求の範囲第1項記載の組合わせ装置
    であって、 前記カテーテルが、 a)屈伸自在に伸びた絶縁体を有する中空外装、並びに b)前記制御可能に磁場を乱す手段であって、 i)前記絶縁体内に埋められ、実質的に、その長さの分だ
    け伸びている一対の伝導性のストリップと、 ii)前記外装内に埋められ、その一端に隣接して配列さ
    れた伝導性ループ手段であって、該ループが互いに前記
    伝導性ストリップに接続しているところのループ手段
    と、 iii)電流を供給するための励起手段で、その電流が前記
    伝導性ストリップを通り、次に、前記ループを通り、そ
    れによって制御可能な双極磁場が前記手段の付近で得ら
    れるところの手段と、 から成る手段、 から成る、ところの組合わせ装置。
