(57)【要約】 【目的】 差動装置の作用時にチャタリングが発生せ
ず、また金属摩擦板の摩耗が少なく、しかも酸化安定性
にすぐれた自動車リミテッドスリップデファレンシャル
(LSD)用潤滑油を開発すること。 【構成】 基油に、オレイルアシッドフォスフェートの
アミン塩などのリン酸エステルアミン塩およびポリブテ
ニルコハク酸イミドとホウ酸との反応生成物などのホウ
素系無灰分散剤を配合するとともに、窒素含有量(N)
とリン含有量(P)との重量比(N/P)が0.5以上で
あり、かつ窒素含有量(N)とホウ素含有量(B)との
重量比(N/B)が4〜10であるLSD用潤滑油組成
物である。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、自動車リミテッドスリ
ップデファレンシャル(LSD)用潤滑油組成物に関
し、詳しくは自動車のデファレンシャルに内蔵されるL
SD装置のチャタリング(異常音)防止能および酸化安
定性にすぐれ、寒冷地を中心に増加しているスタッドレ
スタイヤ装着車のLSDに好適に使用できるLSD用潤
滑油組成物に関するものである。

【従来の技術および発明が解決しようとする課題】一般
に、自動車のデファレンシャルに内蔵されるLSD装置
は、湿式多板クラッチを使用しており、金属板の摩擦力
によって差動制限力を保持している。このLSD用潤滑
油には、GL−5クラスの極圧性が要求されているた
め、従来より硫黄−リン系添加剤および摩擦調整剤を配
合した潤滑油が使用されている。しかしながら、これら
の潤滑油は、摩擦特性が不充分であるため、差動装置の
作用時にチャタリングと呼ばれる異常音が発生したり、
あるいは金属摩擦板が短期間に摩耗し、初期の性能を長
期間維持することが困難になることが多い。そのため、
摩擦特性が良好でその持続性にすぐれ、しかも金属摩擦
板の摩耗が少ない潤滑油の開発が望まれていた。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明者は、このような
事情のもとで、差動装置の作用時にチャタリングが発生
せず、また金属摩擦板の摩耗が少なく、しかも酸化安定
性にすぐれたLSD用潤滑油を開発すべく、鋭意研究を
重ねた。その結果、基油にリン酸エステルアミン塩およ
びホウ素系無灰分散剤を配合するとともに、窒素含有量
とリン含有量との比率および窒素含有量とホウ素含有量
との比率を調節することによって、目的とする特性を備
えた潤滑油組成物が得られることを見出した。本発明は
かかる知見に基いて完成したものである。
【0004】すなわち本発明は、鉱油および/または合
成油からなる基油に、リン酸エステルアミン塩およびホ
ウ素系無灰分散剤を配合してなる組成物であって、該組
成物中の窒素含有量(N)とリン含有量(P)との重量
比(N/P)が0.5以上であり、かつ窒素含有量(N)
とホウ素含有量(B)との重量比(N/B)が4〜10
であることを特徴とする自動車LSD用潤滑油組成物を
提供するものである。
【0005】本発明の潤滑油組成物の基油には、従来か
らLSD用の潤滑油として用いられるものをはじめ、各
種の鉱油や合成油、あるいはこれらの混合油を充当する
ことができる。その種類や性状については、特に限定さ
れるものではないが、好ましくは100℃における動粘
度が1〜50cStの鉱油および/または合成油であ
る。このような鉱油及び合成油は、各種のものがあり、
用途等に応じて適宜選定すればよい。その好適なものと
して、例えば、鉱油としてはパラフィン系鉱油,ナフテ
ン系鉱油などが挙げられ、合成油としてはオレフィンの
重合物や共重合物,二塩基酸のエステル,ポリグリコー
ル,ヒンダードエステルなどが挙げられる。
【0006】また、本発明の潤滑油組成物は、上記基油
にリン酸エステルアミン塩およびホウ素系無灰分散剤を
配合してなるものである。ここで、リン酸エステルアミ
ン塩としては、様々なものがあるが、好ましいものとし
ては、リン酸エステルのアミン塩および亜リン酸エステ
ルのアミン塩、具体的にはアルキル基の炭素数10〜2
0のアルキルアシッドフォスフェートのアミン塩(例え
ば、オレイルアシッドフォスフェートのアミン塩,ラウ
リルアシッドフォスフェートのアミン塩など)やアルキ
ルハイドロジェンフォスファイトのアミン塩などが挙げ
られる。一方、ホウ素系無灰分散剤としては、様々なも
のを充当することができるが、好ましくはアルケニル基
の炭素数20〜250、さらに好ましくは35〜180
のアルケニルコハク酸イミドやアルケニルコハク酸アミ
ドとホウ素化合物(例えばホウ酸,ホウ酸エステルな
ど)との反応生成物(例えばポリブテニルコハク酸イミ
ドとホウ酸との反応生成物)を挙げることができる。
【0007】本発明の潤滑油組成物では、リン酸エステ
ルアミン塩およびホウ素系無灰分散剤の配合量は、組成
物中の窒素含有量(N)とリン含有量(P)との重量比
(N/P)が0.5以上、好ましくは0.7〜1.0であり、
かつ窒素含有量(N)とホウ素含有量(B)との重量比
(N/B)が4〜10、好ましくは6〜9となるように
選定すればよい。N/Pの重量比が0.5未満では、潤滑
油組成物の摩擦特性が劣り、またチャタリングが発生し
やすくなり、摩擦板の摩耗が大きくなる。また、N/B
の重量比が10を超えると、耐熱性が低下するととも
に、スラッジが発生しやすくなる。逆にN/Bの重量比
が4未満では、摩擦特性が低下する。
【0008】本発明の潤滑油組成物における各成分の配
合量は、上述した範囲になるように定めればよいが、よ
り好ましくは、上記範囲を満足するとともに、リン酸エ
ステルアミン塩を全組成物の1〜10重量%、特に3〜
8重量%とし、ホウ素系無灰分散剤を全組成物の0.1〜
2重量%、特に0.5〜1.5重量%の範囲に定める。さら
に、これらの条件とともに、潤滑油組成物中の各元素量
を次の範囲で定めると、目的とする性能を一層効果的に
発揮するすることができる。即ち、硫黄含量を1.5〜5.
0重量%、リン含量を0.15〜0.40重量%、窒素含量
を0.08〜0.30重量%、ホウ素含量を0.01〜0.04
重量%の範囲で定めることが、一層好ましい結果をもた
らす。
【0009】本発明の潤滑油組成物は、上述した成分を
必須とするものであるが、さらに必要に応じて、各種の
添加剤、例えば極圧剤(硫化オレフィン,硫化油脂な
ど),耐摩耗剤(リン酸エステル,亜リン酸エステルな
ど),酸化防止剤(フェノール類など),消泡剤(有機
シリコーン化合物など),無灰分散剤(コハク酸イミド
など),粘度指数向上剤(ポリメタクリレートなど),
流動点降下剤(ポリメタクリレートなど),腐食防止剤
(硫黄・窒素化合物など)等を配合することができる。

【実施例】次に、実施例により本発明をさらに詳細に説
明するが、本発明はこれらの例によって何ら限定される
ものではない。 実施例1,2および比較例1〜3 第1表に示す割合で配合してなる組成物について、低速
滑り試験,低速滑り耐久試験,チムケン摩擦試験,IS
OT試験および貯蔵安定性試験を行った。結果を第1表
に示す。

35C表面焼入れ,HRc=49)を用い、被駆動プレ
ートとしてLSD摩擦板(材質S35C表面焼入れ,H
Rc=47)を用い、面圧80kg/cm2 ,回転数1
〜100rpmとした。μ1は1rpmの摩擦係数を示
し、μ50は50rpmの摩擦係数を示す(μ1/μ5
0が1以上になるとチャタリングが発生する)。 *5:摩擦板の摩耗量は、駆動・被駆動プレート合計の
試験前後の重量差とした。 *6:ASTM−D2782に準拠した。 *7:不溶解分はASTM−D893のA法に準拠して
測定したn−ペンタン不溶解分量である。 *8:遠心管に試料100ミリリットルを入れ外観を観
察した。

【発明の効果】本発明の潤滑油組成物を自動車のLSD
に用いれば、新油の摩擦特性が良好であってチャタリン
グが発生せず、その経時変化も小さく、また、金属摩擦
板の摩耗が少なく、その上、酸化安定性にすぐれてい
る。したがって、本発明の潤滑油組成物は、自動車LS
D用の潤滑油として、その利用価値は高い。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 鉱油および/または合成油からなる基油
    に、リン酸エステルアミン塩およびホウ素系無灰分散剤
    を配合してなる組成物であって、該組成物中の窒素含有
    量(N)とリン含有量(P)との重量比(N/P)が0.
    5以上であり、かつ窒素含有量(N)とホウ素含有量
    (B)との重量比(N/B)が4〜10であることを特
    徴とする自動車リミテッドスリップデファレンシャル用
    潤滑油組成物。
  2. 【請求項2】 組成物中のリン含有量が0.15〜0.40
    重量%および窒素含有量が0.08〜0.30重量%である
    請求項1記載の潤滑油組成物。
