(57)【要約】 (修正有) 【目的】透明なポリエステルフィルムを、接続区域での
透明性を維持しながら、接着剤で固く接続する方法を提
供する。 【構成】接続シーム部を有し、そのシーム区域で部分的
に重なり合い、その区域で接着剤により接続され、その
接着剤により接続された区域が透明である、反応性基で
変性したポリエステルフィルム(ポリエチレンテレフタ
レート等)の製造および使用方法。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】本発明は、とりわけ全周囲ラベルとして使
用される、接続区域の透明性が熱の作用を受けても、湿
気の多い雰囲気中でも維持される、透明接続したポリエ
ステルフィルムに関する。
【0002】透明な状態のプラスチックフィルムに印刷
し、接着剤を使用してこれらのフィルムを接続し、フィ
ルムの重なり合った接続区域の透明性を損なわずに、チ
ューブ等を形成する技術は公知である。
【0003】この種のフィルムチューブは、とりわけ、
びん、チューブ、ジャー、等の容器に広告目的に有効な
仕上を施すための全周囲ラベル、安全シールまたはシー
スとして使用される。
【0004】この目的には、ポリ塩化ビニル(PV
C)、ポリスチレン(PS)およびポリプロピレン(P
P)系のフィルムが、容易に接着することができ、接続
区域もきれいで、特に、透明であり、したがって接着さ
れた360°全周囲ラベルの光学的効果に悪影響を及ぼ
さないので、非常に好適である。
【0005】現在、ポリエステル容器は環境汚染に関す
る問題をほとんど生じないので、その市場における需要
が益々高くなっている。確かに、ポリエステル系のこの
種の容器に上記のPVC、PSまたはPPフィルムを使
用した容器の仕上を問題なく施すことはできるが、これ
には同時に、この様にして仕上げたポリエステル容器は
最早単一材料型ではない、すなわち最早単一の原料から
なるのではなく、したがって事実上最早循環使用できな
いという欠点がある。
【0006】したがって、この目的にも、容器の仕上げ
としての適性に関してPVC、PSまたはPPに決して
劣ることはなく、特に接続区域における透明性を維持し
ながら接続することができるポリエステルフィルムを使
用することに対する要請がある。
【0007】しかし、現在までこれは不可能であった。
というのは、透明なポリエステルフィルムは、結晶化に
より縞が生じるために、明らかに目に見える曇りを生じ
ることなく接続することができなかったためである。
【0008】確かに、接着した、着色の不透明ポリエス
テルフィルムは光学的な必要条件が厳しくない用途には
使用されているが、仕上げおよび装飾材料としての使用
には適当ではない。
【0009】そこで、本発明の目的は、透明なポリエス
テルフィルムを、接続したフィルム区域における透明性
を維持しながら、接着剤で固く接続できる方法を提供す
ることである。本発明の別の目的は、この接続を、後に
続く熱処理、例えば収縮または低温殺菌の場合にも接続
区域における透明性が保持される様に行うことである。
【0010】この目的は、反応性基により変性したポリ
エステルを使用することにより達成される。
【0011】この様に、本発明の主題は、接続シームを
有し、そのシーム区域で部分的に重なり合い、接着剤に
より接続され、その接着剤により接続された区域が透明
であることを特徴とする、反応性基で変性したポリエス
テルフィルムである。
【0012】本発明の別の主題は、フィルム系の容器仕
上げ材としてポリエステルフィルムを容器の周囲に配置
し、重なり合ったシーム部で接続するか、あるいは重ね
合わせ、接続したシーム部を有するチューブ形状のポリ
エステルフィルムを容器の上に滑り込ませ、次いでその
フィルム系の容器仕上げ材を熱の作用により容器上に収
縮させるが、ポリエステルフィルムの接着剤により接続
された重なり部分は透明であり、そのポリエステルフィ
ルムは反応性基により変性されたポリエステルであるこ
とを特徴とする、フィルム系の容器仕上げ材を備えた容
器の製造方法である。
【0013】また、本発明は、本発明により接続したポ
リエステルフィルムの、全周囲ラベル、安全シールまた
はシースとしての使用にも関する。
【0014】最後に、本発明は、本発明により接続され
たポリエステルフィルムで仕上をした容器に関する。
【0015】本発明のポリエステルフィルムは、好まし
くはポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルム(PETフィ
ルム)である、つまりこのフィルムは主として、すなわ
ち90%を超える程度まで、PETからなり、安定化
剤、潤滑剤、帯電防止剤、等を通常の比率で、すなわち
10%まで含むことができる。
【0016】好ましくは、OH、CHOまたはCOOH
基の様な末端反応性基を有する、反応性基で変性したポ
リエステルフィルムを使用する。アルカンジオール変性
したPETフィルム、例えば1,3−プロパンジオール
変性した、またはエチレングリコール変性したPETフ
ィルムが特に好適であることが分かった。この種のフィ
ルムは、例えばPETCLEARYL(ハグナー、ドルンシュテッ
テン、独国)またはVILLPET PETGフィルムタイプ100
3(シュテーガー、ムリ、スイス)の名称で入手可能で
ある。
【0017】ポリエステルフィルムは単層でも多層でも
よく、延伸してなくても、一軸または二軸延伸してあっ
てもよく、印刷してあっても印刷してなくてもよい。
【0018】使用する溶剤系接着剤としては、ポリエス
テルフィルム表面に存在する反応性基に対して親和性を
有する接着剤が好ましい。さらに、これらの接着剤は、
最初に溶解したポリエステルの実質的な結晶化を引き起
こすべきではない。エステル、アルコール、ケトン、フ
ラン、塩素化炭化水素および脂肪族および環状炭化水
素、およびこれらの物質の混合物からなるグループから
選択された溶剤が特に好適であることが分かっている。
例えば、使用可能なエステルは酢酸エチルまたは酢酸メ
チルであり、使用可能なアルコールはエタノールまたは
プロパノールであり、使用可能なケトンはメチルエチル
ケトン、シクロヘキサノンまたはアセトンであり、使用
可能なフランはテトラヒドロフランまたは低級アルキル
置換したTHFであり、使用可能な塩素化炭化水素は塩
化メチレンまたは2,2−ジクロロエタンであり、使用
可能な脂肪族または環状炭化水素はペンタン、ヘキサン
またはシクロヘキサンである。
【0019】驚くべきことに、反応性基で変性したポリ
エステルフィルム、特にアルカンジオール変性したPE
Tフィルムは、溶剤系接着剤を使用することにより、接
続区域の透明性を維持しながら永久的に接続できること
が分かった。接続区域は、容器上にその様なフィルムを
収縮させる場合の様に熱を作用させても透明なままであ
った。例えば低温殺菌で起こる様な、湿気のある、温か
い雰囲気中でも透明性に何の変化も起きないことは特に
驚くべきことであった。
【0020】ここで、透明性とは、例えば結晶化現象に
よるくもりが生じないことを意味する。透明性は、例え
ば光散乱測定(ASTM−D 1003−61、方法
A)により測定または評価することができる。本発明に
より接続されたポリエステルフィルムの場合、透明性は
75〜90%、好ましくは80〜90%の範囲にある
(ASTM−D 1003−61、方法Aにより測
定)。
【0021】全周囲ラベルの場合、最良の方法は、適当
な大きさの、所望により印刷したポリエステルフィルム
細片を、そのフィルムの両端がある程度重なる様に、ラ
ベルを貼るべき容器、例えばびんの周囲に配置する。重
なり区域は一般的に1〜10mm、好ましくは3〜7mmで
ある。この重なり区域のフィルムの片側または両側に溶
剤系接着剤を塗布し、接着剤から溶剤を蒸発させた後、
圧力および所望により熱をかけてシームを閉じる。本方
法の別の実施形態では、フィルムを中空の円筒または所
望により中空の、上部を切断した円錐に形成し、シーム
部を重ね合わせ、接続することにより、チューブ状のス
リーブを先ず形成する。次いで、このチューブ状スリー
ブを容器の周囲に滑り込ませる。続いて熱の作用によ
り、例えば熱風を使用して全周囲ラベルを容器上に収縮
させる。
【0022】容器はガラス、金属またはPVC、PSま
たはPPの様なプラスチック製でもよいが、やはりポリ
エチレンテレフタレート製の容器が好ましい。
【0023】下記の実施例により本発明を説明する。実施例1 横方向に一軸延伸した単層PETフィルム(PETCLEARY
L、P100、ハグナー、ドルンシュテッテン、独国)
をシーム部を3mm重ね合わせたチューブに成形した。こ
のシームの片側にTHFを塗布し、1〜5秒間溶剤を蒸
発させた後、シームを合わせて加圧した。乾燥後、接続
区域の透明性は80%(ASTM−D 1003−6
1、方法A)であった。実施例2 実施例1で成形し、接続してチューブを形成したPET
フィルムを、円筒状のびん上に高温空気流中で収縮させ
た。高温空気の温度は120〜130℃で、通過時間は
4秒間であった。接続したシーム部は、この収縮工程の
後も透明であった(ASTM−D 1003−61、方
法Aにより80%)。

Claims (15)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】接続シーム部を有し、そのシーム区域で部
    分的に重なり合い、その区域で接着剤により接続され、
    その接着剤により接続された区域が透明であることを特
    徴とする、反応性基で変性したポリエステルフィルム。
  2. 【請求項2】前記フィルムがポリエステルの収縮包装フ
    ィルムであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のポリ
    エステルフィルム。
  3. 【請求項3】前記フィルムが延伸されていないか、また
    は一軸もしくは二軸延伸されていることを特徴とする、
    請求項1または2に記載のポリエステルフィルム。
  4. 【請求項4】前記フィルムが実質的にポリエチレンテレ
    フタレートからなることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の
    いずれか1項に記載のポリエステルフィルム。
  5. 【請求項5】前記フィルムが、シーム区域において75
    〜90%の範囲の透明性を有することを特徴とする、請
    求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のポリエステルフィル
    ム。
  6. 【請求項6】前記フィルムが印刷されていることを特徴
    とする、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載のポリエス
    テルフィルム。
  7. 【請求項7】前記フィルムがチューブ状であることを特
    徴とする、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載のポリエ
    ステルフィルム。
  8. 【請求項8】使用する接着剤が溶剤系の接着剤であるこ
    とを特徴とする、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の
    ポリエステルフィルム。
  9. 【請求項9】溶剤系接着剤が、エステル、アルコール、
    ケトン、フラン、塩素化炭化水素および脂肪族および環
    状炭化水素からなる群の一つ以上の化合物から選択され
    ることを特徴とする、請求項8に記載のポリエステルフ
    ィルム。
  10. 【請求項10】フィルム系の容器仕上げ材を備えた容器
    の製造方法であって、フィルム系の容器仕上げ材として
    ポリエステルフィルムを容器の周囲に配置し、重なり合
    ったシーム部で接続するか、あるいは重ね合わせ、接続
    したシーム部を有するチューブ形状のポリエステルフィ
    ルムを容器の上に滑り込ませ、次いでそのフィルム系の
    容器仕上げ材を熱の作用により容器上に収縮させるが、
    該ポリエステルフィルムの接着剤により接続された重な
    り部分が透明であり、そのポリエステルフィルムが反応
    性基により変性されたポリエステルであることを特徴と
    する方法。
  11. 【請求項11】容器用の全周囲ラベル、安全シールまた
    はシースとしての、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載
    のポリエステルフィルムの使用。
  12. 【請求項12】請求項10に記載の方法により得られ
    る、容器仕上げ材を備えた容器。
  13. 【請求項13】フィルム系の容器仕上げ材を備えた容器
    であって、その容器仕上げ材が実質的に反応性基により
    変性されたポリエステルからなり、重ね合わせ区域で接
    続されていることを特徴とする容器。
  14. 【請求項14】前記容器が実質的にポリエステルからな
    ることを特徴とする、請求項12または13に記載の容
    器。
  15. 【請求項15】使用するポリエステルがポリエチレンテ
    レフタレートであることを特徴とする、請求項14に記
    載の容器。
