パルプマトリックスからのトップノートまたはベースノート揮発性原料の放出量は、静的ヘッドスペースガスクロマトグラフィーによるポリマー中の揮発性物質の定量のための標準方法ASTM D4526-12標準を用いて評価した。ヘッドスペースGC/MS実験は、Agilentの機器:ヘッドスペースモデル7697A、GCモデル7850A、およびMSモデル5975Cで実行した。トップノートおよびベースノート原料は、フレグランス業界のすべての種類の嗅覚組成物に使用される一般的な原料である。酢酸エチル(CAS 141-78-6;MW88.1g/mol)は、試験されたトップノート原料であり、メチルセドリルケトン(CAS 32388-5-9;MW246.4g/mol)は、試験されたベースノート原料である。ベースノート原料は、揮発性原料の分子量スペクトルの上限を表し、トップノート原料は、揮発性原料の分子量スペクトルの下限を表す。
高密度(0.36g/mL)を有する三次元パルプ物体および低密度(0.24g/mL)パルプ基材12を有する三次元パルプ物体のサンプルを、エポキシ包埋および薄片イメージングを使用して分析した。各サンプルを、Electron Microscopy Sciencesによって販売されているEpofixコールドマウントエポキシ樹脂で真空充填した。各サンプルの薄片をのこ刃で切断し、カーギル標準屈折液(R.I.=1.572、これはEpofixのR.I.に一致する)に浸した。次に、透過光イメージングを使用して、図66、図67および図68に見られ得るように、各サンプルの断面の顕微鏡写真を撮影した。サンプルの中心にある濃いスパイクされた特徴は、エポキシ樹脂の含浸が不完全であることを示し、間接的に繊維密度も示している。例えば、図67に見られ得るように、エポキシ樹脂の含浸は、図66に示す低密度サンプルよりも高密度サンプルの方が不完全である。さらに、高密度および低密度パルプ基材12の両方を有する三次元パルプ物体のサンプルを含む図68もまた、低密度のエリアよりも高密度のエリアにおける不完全なエポキシ樹脂の含浸を示す。加えて、図67では、濃い中心を除いた高密度サンプルの上から下へのわずかな密度のゆるやかな変化は、サンプルがくさび形をしているときの薄片の厚さの変化によって生じるアーチファクトである。しかしながら、高密度および低密度パルプ基材12の両方を含む図68のサンプルは、均一な厚さを有し、したがってわずかに暗い上半分は、そのエリアにおける高密度パルプ基材12を示す。

- 繊維と、複雑な幾何学的形状を有する少なくとも1つの表面とを含むパルプ基材であって、細孔が前記繊維間に形成され、前記複雑な幾何学的形状がピークと平坦な領域を含む、パルプ基材と、
第1の揮発性を有する少なくとも1つのトップノート成分および第2の揮発性を有する少なくとも1つのベースノート成分を含む揮発性組成物とを備え、
前記第1の揮発性は、前記第2の揮発性より高く、
前記揮発性組成物は、前記パルプ基材の前記細孔を少なくとも部分的に満たし、
前記パルプ基材が、第1の多孔性を有する少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンと、第2の多孔性を有する少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンとを含み、
前記第1の多孔性は、前記第2の多孔性より低く、
前記低多孔性ゾーンより前記高多孔性ゾーンにより多くの前記ピークがあり、
前記少なくとも1つのトップノート成分が、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンに加えられ、前記少なくとも1つのベースノート成分が、前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンに加えられる、物品。 - 請求項1に記載の物品を形成する方法であって、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンが、型の第1の排水表面を使用して形成され、前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンが、前記型の第2の排水表面を使用して形成され、前記第1の排水表面は、前記第2の排水表面と異なり、追加の排水機構を有する、方法。
- 請求項1に記載の物品を形成する方法であって、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンおよび前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンが、型内の仕切りの使用によって形成される、方法。
- 請求項1に記載の物品を形成する方法であって、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンが、型の部分への第1の圧力の適用によって形成され、前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンが、前記型の部分への前記第1の圧力より低い第2の圧力の適用によって形成される、方法。
- 請求項1に記載の物品を形成する方法であって、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンが、型の部分への第1のパルプ濃度の適用によって形成され、前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンが、前記型の部分への前記第1のパルプ濃度より低い第2のパルプ濃度の適用によって形成される、方法。
- 請求項1に記載の物品を形成する方法であって、前記少なくとも1つの低多孔性ゾーンが、前記パルプ基材の部分への第1の量のガスまたはガス形成材料の適用によって形成され、前記少なくとも1つの高多孔性ゾーンが、前記パルプ基材の部分への前記第1の量より多い第2の量の前記ガスまたはガス形成材料の適用によって形成される、方法。
