Claims (12)
- 化学強化ガラスシートを罫書きするための方法において、
第1の回転切削罫書きホイールを用いて、化学強化ガラスシートの第1の表面で第1のエッジの近くに複数のクラック創始点を形成する工程であって、前記化学強化ガラスシートは層深さDOLをもつ表面圧縮層を有し、各クラック創始点は前記第1の表面に延び込む表面刻み目を含むものである工程、及び
前記複数のクラック創始点の形成の後に、前記化学強化ガラスシートの自発的な分離を生じさせることなく、少なくともDOLに等しいが破断深さよりは小さいベント深さまで、前記第1の表面に沿って前記化学強化ガラスシート内に延び込む複数のベント線を罫書きするために、前記複数のクラック創始点から前記化学強化ガラスシートの第2のエッジに向けて前記第1の回転切削罫書きホイールを用いて前記第1の表面を機械罫書きする工程であって、前記ベント線の前記ベント深さが、前記クラック創始点における前記表面刻み目の深さよりも深いものである工程、を含み、
前記第1の回転切削罫書きホイールが、90°〜140°の範囲のテーパ角αを有するテーパ付円周刃先を有し、
前記機械罫書きする工程が、10〜30Nの範囲の罫書き荷重を前記第1の表面に印加する工程を含む、ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記表面刻み目がDOLより大きいがDOLの3倍よりは小さい深さhまで前記第1の表面内に延び込むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記化学強化ガラスシートが1.5mmをこえない厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記表面圧縮層が400〜900MPaの範囲のピーク圧縮応力を有し、50MPaより小さいピーク中心張力を呈し、かつ層深さDOLが5〜100μmの範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- ピーク中心張力が40MPaを超えず、かつ前記ベント深さが前記化学強化ガラスシートの前記厚さの10〜20%の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記表面刻み目が前記化学強化ガラスシートの前記厚さの10%より小さい深さまで、前記第1の表面内に延び込むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1本のベント線が少なくとも1本の他のベント線と交差することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記化学強化ガラスシートは、幅W、および該幅Wより大きい長さLを有し、機械罫書きする工程は、前記長さLに平行な方向に沿って、複数本の間隔をおいたベント線を前記複数のクラック創始点から罫書きする工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 機械罫書きする工程は、前記複数本の間隔をおいたベント線と交差するように、前記化学強化ガラスシートの第3のエッジ近くのクラック創始点から、前記幅Wに平行な方向に沿って、少なくとも1本のベント線を交差罫書きする工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の方法。
- 機械罫書きする工程は、50〜500mm/秒の範囲の罫書き速度で、前記第1の表面に対して前記第1の回転切削罫書きホイールを移動させる工程を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記クラック創始点を形成する工程はさらに、クラック創始速度で移動する罫書き用具を用いて、前記化学強化ガラスシートの前記第1のエッジの近くに前記表面刻み目を形成する処理を含み、
前記第1の表面を機械罫書きする工程はさらに、前記クラック創始速度よりも速い罫書き速度で移動する前記罫書き用具を用いて、前記化学強化ガラスシートの前記第2のエッジに向けて前記第1の表面を罫書きする処理を含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記複数のクラック創始点の各々が、前記表面の前記第1のエッジから前記表面の前記第2のエッジまでの横方向寸法全体に亘っては延在しない、半円型の形状を有する表面刻み目として、構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
