Description
本テキストは、直径および等価直径に言及する。非球状物体のケースでは、等価直径は、その非球状物体と同じ体積または(円のケースでは)面積を有する球または円の直径を示す。本テキストは、時として直径に言及するが、別に具体的に述べられない限り、問題の物体が球状である必要はないことが理解されよう。非球状物体(粒子または断面)のケースでは等価直径が意味される。
重合は、オレフィン重合触媒の存在下で行われる。触媒は、所望のオレフィンポリマーを生成することが可能な任意の触媒であってよい。適切な触媒は、中でも、遷移金属に基づくチーグラー・ナッタ触媒、例えば、チタン、ジルコニウムおよび/またはバナジウム触媒である。特に、チーグラー・ナッタ触媒は、広い分子量の範囲内のオレフィンポリマー類を高い生産性で生成できるので有用である。
流動層における重合は、事前重合段階、例えば、スラリーまたは気相で実施される予備重合または別の重合段階が先行してもよい。かかる重合段階があるならば、当技術分野でよく知られる手順によって実施できる。本発明の重合プロセスに先行しうるであろう重合および他のプロセス段階を含む適切なプロセスは、国際公開第92/12182(A)号、国際公開第96/18662(A)号、欧州特許出願公開第1415999(A)号、国際公開第98/58976(A)号、欧州特許出願公開第887380(A)号、国際公開第98/58977(A)号、欧州特許出願公開第1860125(A)号、英国特許1580635(A)号、米国特許第4582816(A)号、米国特許第3405109(A)号、米国特許第3324093(A)号、欧州特許出願公開第479186(A)号および米国特許第5391654(A)号に開示される。当業者にはよく理解されるように、触媒は、事前重合段階後に活性なままである必要がある。
気相重合反応器では、重合は、上昇するガス流中で成長するポリマー粒子によって形成された流動層において生じる。流動層では、活性触媒を含んだポリマー粒子が反応ガス、例えば、モノマー、コモノマー(単数または複数)および水素と接触して、粒子上にポリマーを生成させる。
ポリマーは、重合反応器から除去されたときに、ポリマーから残留炭化水素類を除去するためのプロセス・ステップを受けることになる。かかるプロセスは、当技術分野ではよく知られ、圧力低下ステップ、パージング・ステップ、剥離ステップ、抽出ステップなどを含むことができる。異なるステップの組み合わせも可能である。
本発明は、ダウンタイムを削減して長期間にわたって運転することができる。反応器の底の部分におけるポリマー粒子の蓄積が回避される。本請求のプロセスによれば、従来の気泡流動層反応器と比べて、ガス−固体混合がより効率的であり、除熱能力がより高い。加えて、粒子サイズおよび滞留時間分布の狭小化の観点からポリマーの同質性の向上を達成でき、そのうえ、ポリマーのスループットが著しく増加する。さらに、本請求のプロセスは、凝集体、シートの形成およびチャンキングのリスクがより少ないことも呈示する。そのうえ、広い粒子サイズ分布をもつポリマー粒子を粒子偏析問題を経験することなく適正に流動化できる。最後に、典型的な気相流動層反応器と比べて、平均滞留時間が短く、空時収率が高く、所定のスループットのために必要な反応器容積がより小さい。
図1は、先行技術の反応器システムを示す。反応器(1)は、底部ゾーン(5)、中間ゾーン(6)および頂部ゾーン(7)を有する。流動化ガスは、開口(8)を通して底部ゾーン(5)中へ導入される。ガスが底部ゾーン(5)を通って上方へ流れる間に、その空塔速度は、増加する直径に起因して減少する。流動層は、底部ゾーン(5)内で形成され始める。ガスは、ガス速度が一定で流動層が完全に形成された中間ゾーン(6)を通って上方へ移動し続ける。最終的に、ガスは、頂部ゾーン(7)に到達して、そこから開口(9)を通して引き出される。ガスは、同伴固体と一緒に、ライン(12)に沿ってサイクロン(2)まで進む。サイクロン(2)が循環ガスから大部分の同伴固体を除去し、循環ガスは、ガス出口(13)を通ってライン(16)および(18)に沿って圧縮器(17)へ進む。圧縮器(17)の前には好ましくはフィルタ(4)がある。圧縮器(17)においてガスは加圧され、ライン(19)を通って冷却器(3)へ進み、そこで冷却される。冷却器(3)からガスは、ライン(20)に沿って反応器(1)の入口(8)へ進む。
底部ゾーンの高さ: 900mm

中間ゾーンの直径: 300mm
底部ゾーンの錐角 20°
上記のような反応器を入口管におけるガス速度が9m/sであるように運転した。反応器は、安定して動作した。2時間の運転期間後に、入口チャンバを開けて調べた。入口チャンバの底にかなりの量のポリマー粉体が見つかった。
入口管におけるガス速度が12m/sであるようにガス流量を増加させたことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。反応器は、安定して動作した。2時間の運転期間後に、入口チャンバを開けて調べた。入口チャンバの底に少量のポリマー粉体が見つかった。
入口管におけるガス速度が20m/sであるようにガス流量を増加させたことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。反応器は、安定して動作した。2時間の運転期間後に、入口チャンバを開けて調べた。事実上、入口チャンバの底にポリマー粉体が見つからなかった。
入口チャンバ中で入口管が500mm延びる反応器を用いたことを除いて、実施例1の手順を繰り返した。反応器は、安定して動作した。2時間の運転期間後に、入口チャンバを開けて調べた。入口チャンバの底に極めて少量のポリマー粉体が見つかった。
入口管におけるガス速度が12m/sであるようにガス流量が増加させたことを除いて、実施例4の手順を繰り返した。反応器は、安定して動作した。2時間の運転期間後に、入口チャンバを開けて調べた。事実上、入口チャンバの底にポリマー粉体が見つからなかった。
Claims (14)
- 重合反応器において少なくとも1つのオレフィンをオレフィン重合触媒の存在の下に気相で流動層中に重合するステップを備えるオレフィン重合プロセスであり、
前記重合反応器は、縦型胴部を含み、前記縦型胴部は、略錐状の下方へ先細になる底部ゾーンと、前記底部ゾーンの上にあり、それに接続された略シリンダ状の中間ゾーンと、前記中間ゾーンの上にあり、それに接続された略錐状の上方へ先細になる頂部ゾーンとを有し、
(i)流動化ガスが前記反応器の前記底部ゾーンへ導入されて、そこから前記反応器を上方へ進み、(ii)前記流動化ガスは、前記反応器の前記頂部ゾーンから引き出されて、圧縮され、冷却されて前記反応器の前記底部ゾーン中へ戻され、(iii)前記反応器内には流動層が形成されて、そこでは成長するポリマー粒子が上昇する流動化ガス流中に浮遊し、前記流動化ガスの空塔速度は、前記粒子の輸送速度より小さく、(iv)前記反応器中には流動化グリッドがない、プロセスであって、
前記流動化ガスは、前記底部ゾーンの下にある入口チャンバから前記底部ゾーン中へ進み、前記流動化ガスは、前記入口チャンバの上部で前記入口チャンバに入り、次に前記入口チャンバの上部からその下部へ流れ、前記流動化ガスは、前記入口チャンバの前記下部から前記底部ゾーンへ流れ、前記流動化ガスは、前記入口チャンバの前記下部まで延びる入口管を経由して前記入口チャンバから前記底部ゾーンへ進み、前記流動化ガスは前記入口チャンバの下部内で前記入口管に入ることを特徴とする、プロセス。 - 前記入口管内を上方へ流れる前記流動化ガスの前記速度は、前記入口チャンバ内のポリマー粒子の蓄積を防止するのに十分に高い、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記入口管は、前記入口チャンバ内の前記入口管の長さの前記入口チャンバの高さに対する比が0.30〜0.95の範囲内にあるように、前記入口チャンバ内であるレベルまで延びる、請求項1または請求項2に記載のプロセス。
- 前記入口管内で上方へ流れる前記流動化ガスの前記速度は、9m/s以上である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のプロセス。
- 前記入口管内で上方へ流れる前記流動化ガスの前記速度は、12m/s以上である、請求項4に記載のプロセス。
- 気相でのオレフィン重合のための反応器であって、前記反応器は、縦型胴部を有し、かつ前記縦型胴部は、略錐状の下方へ先細になる底部ゾーンと、前記底部ゾーンの上にあり、それに接続された略シリンダ状の中間ゾーンと、前記中間ゾーンの上にあり、それに接続された略錐状の上方へ先細になる頂部ゾーンとを備え、前記反応器中には流動化グリッドがない反応器であって、入口チャンバが前記底部ゾーンの下に位置して、その底の部分に接続され、前記入口チャンバは、縦型の略シリンダ状の形状を有し、上部および下部を有して、入口管が前記底部ゾーンの底の部分に接続され、前記入口管は、前記入口チャンバの前記下部に延在し、前記流動化ガスが、前記入口チャンバの上部に入り、次に前記入口チャンバ中を下方へ移動し、前記入口チャンバの前記下部内に入り、前記入口管を経由して前記底部ゾーンへ進むように、前記入口管及び前記入口チャンバが構成されている、ことを特徴とする反応器。
- 前記中間ゾーンの直径の前記入口チャンバの直径に対する比は、1.5〜4.5の範囲内にある、請求項7に記載の反応器。
- 前記入口チャンバの内径の前記入口管の内径に対する比は、1.3〜2.0の範囲内にある、請求項7または請求項8に記載の反応器。
- 前記入口チャンバ内の前記入口管の長さの前記入口チャンバの高さに対する比は、0.30〜0.95の範囲内にある、請求項7〜9のいずれか一項に記載の反応器。
- 前記中間ゾーンの前記直径の前記入口管の前記直径に対する比は、2.0〜7.0である、請求項7〜10のいずれか一項に記載の反応器。
- 前記入口チャンバは、前記入口チャンバの底からポリマーを引き出すための手段を含む、請求項7〜11のいずれか一項に記載の反応器。
- 前期入口チャンバの底からポリマーを引き出すための前記手段は、順次操作されるバルブを備える、請求項12に記載の反応器。
- 少なくとも1つのオレフィンを重合するための請求項7〜13のいずれか一項に記載の反応器の使用。
