Description
発明のコロイダルシリカゾルの調製。発明の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物(表1におけるサンプル7−15)を、下記の通りに記載される実験室規模の半バッチ手順を用いて調製した。反応槽に600mLのアンバーライト(登録商標)IRC84SPイオン交換樹脂(ダウ(Dow)から入手可能)をそのナトリウム形態で入れる。樹脂を水素形態に再生させるための製造者の手順に従い、再生は少なくとも40パーセント完了する。樹脂を水ですすぎ清浄にし、水を切る。190−380グラムの水を槽に入れ、槽の内容物の混合を開始し、樹脂を懸濁させる。次に、反応器の内容物を100−160°Fまで加熱する。反応槽に(約2−20分の期間にわたって)186−505グラムのケイ酸ナトリウム(3.26のSiO2対Na2Oのモル比および11.2のpHを有する)を入れる。1−45分後、反応槽に(約5−30分の期間にわたって)13−160グラムのケイ酸ナトリウムを入れる。反応槽中の内容物をさらに10−180分間撹拌する。その後、内容物を反応槽から除去し、コロイダルシリカ生成物をイオン交換樹脂から、フィルタバッグを介して分離する。
実施例2では、発明の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物(表2におけるサンプル16−29)を、下記パイロット規模半バッチ手順を用いて調製した。反応槽に、185ガロンのアンバーライト(登録商標)IRC84SPイオン交換樹脂(ダウから入手可能)をそのナトリウム形態で入れる。樹脂を水素形態に再生させるための製造者の手順に従い、再生は少なくとも40パーセント完了する。樹脂を水ですすぎ清浄にし、水を切る。683−1158ポンドの水を槽に入れ、槽の内容物の混合を開始し、樹脂を懸濁させる。次に、反応器の内容物を100−160°Fまで加熱する。反応槽に(約2−20分の期間にわたって)574−1320ポンドのケイ酸ナトリウム(3.26のSiO2対Na2Oのモル比および11.2のpHを有する)を入れる。1−45分後、反応槽に(約5−30分の期間にわたって)41−417ポンドのケイ酸ナトリウムを入れる。反応槽中の内容物をさらに10−180分間撹拌する。その後、内容物を反応槽から、スクリーンを介して底部から除去する。
対照サンプルおよび実施例2のサンプル17−19を、各々の第1通過灰分歩留まりに関する比較実験において使用した。サンプルの各々をセルロース完成紙料上に投与した。
Claims (13)
- 水および16から18重量パーセントのコロイダルシリカ固体を含み、4から20cpsの範囲の粘度および26から40%の範囲のS値を有し、750から850m2/gの範囲の比表面積を有する、水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- アルカリ金属をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記アルカリ金属は、50:1から5:1の範囲のシリカ対アルカリ金属のモル比を提供するのに十分な量で存在する、請求項2に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物は、4から18cpsの範囲の粘度を有する、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物は、17から18重量パーセントのコロイダルシリカ固体を含む、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物は、1:2から4:1の範囲の、重量パーセントコロイダルシリカ固体対cps粘度の比を有する、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物は、9から11の範囲のpHを有する、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- 前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物は、10から11の範囲のpHを有する、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物。
- セルロースシートを製造する方法であって、
0.01から1.5重量パーセントのセルロース繊維を含むセルロース完成紙料を調製する工程、
前記セルロース完成紙料に、0.00005から1.5重量パーセント/セルロース完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量のコロイダルシリカ固体の濃度を達成するのに十分な量の請求項1に記載の水性コロイダルシリカ生成物、および0.001から5重量パーセント/セルロース完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量の水溶性ポリマ凝集剤の濃度を達成するのに十分な量の水溶性ポリマ凝集剤を添加する工程であって、前記水溶性ポリマ凝集剤は500,000から3000万ダルトンの範囲の分子量を有する、工程、ならびに
前記セルロース完成紙料を脱水し、セルロースシートを得る工程、
を含む、方法。 - 前記セルロース完成紙料に添加される前記水性コロイダルシリカ生成物の量は、0.005から1重量パーセント/前記セルロース完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量のコロイダルシリカ固体濃度を達成するのに十分である、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記コロイダルシリカ生成物は、バッチ水性コロイダルシリカ生成物に対し、0.5から0.8の範囲の第1通過灰分歩留まり置換率を有する、請求項9または10に記載の方法。
- 前記コロイダルシリカ生成物は、微小粒子を前記セルロース完成紙料に、970kgのセルロース完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量につき0.41から0.54kgの濃度で投与した場合、バッチ水性コロイダルシリカ生成物に対し、少なくとも90%の第1通過灰分歩留まりを達成する、請求項9または10に記載の方法。
- カチオン性デンプンが、前記セルロース完成紙料に、0.005から5重量パーセントのカチオン性デンプン/セルロース完成紙料中の繊維の乾燥重量のカチオン性デンプンの濃度を達成するのに十分な量で添加される、請求項9〜12のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
