Description
図1及び図2は、本発明の実施形態に係る排気構造が適用された、多気筒エンジン1(以下、単にエンジン1という)の排気装置50を示す。エンジン1は、4つの気筒2を列状に有する直列4気筒エンジンであって、車両の前部のエンジンルームに気筒列方向が車幅方向(図1の左右方向)を向くように横置きに配置される。すなわち、エンジン1は横置きエンジンである。このエンジン1は、上側に向かって車両後側に傾斜(スラント)して配置されている。以下、エンジン1及び排気装置50は、車両に搭載された状態にあるとして説明する。
図6は、参考形態を示し、第1及び第4排気分岐管部32a,32dと第2及び第3排気分岐管部32b,32cとの上下の位置関係を、上記実施形態とは異ならせたものである。

Claims (2)
- 4つの気筒を有する多気筒エンジンの該4つの気筒のそれぞれに連通するように該エンジンの一側面に取り付けられる4つの排気分岐管部と、上記4つの気筒を、排気行程が互いに連続しない2つの気筒からなる2組の気筒群に分けて、該各組の気筒群毎に当該気筒群の2つの気筒に連通する排気分岐管部同士を集合させてなる2つの中間集合管部と、該2つの中間集合管部同士を集合させてなる最終集合管部と、該最終集合管部の排気下流側の端部に接続された排気浄化装置とを備えた、多気筒エンジンの排気構造であって、
上記エンジンは、上記4つの気筒全てを作動させる全筒運転と、上記2組の気筒群のうちの一方の組の気筒群における2つの気筒を休止させる減筒運転とを切り換え可能に構成され、
上記エンジンの上記減筒運転時に作動させる気筒である作動気筒に連通する排気分岐管部の長さが、上記減筒運転時に休止させる気筒である休止気筒に連通する排気分岐管部の長さに比べて短くされているとともに、
上記作動気筒に連通する排気分岐管部同士が集合する集合部が、上記休止気筒に連通する排気分岐管部同士が集合する集合部よりも、上記エンジンにおける上記4つの排気分岐管部が取り付けられる側面に対して近い側に位置しており、
上記休止気筒に連通する排気分岐管部は、上記作動気筒に連通する排気分岐管部よりも下側のスペースを通るように配設され、
上記排気浄化装置は、上記休止気筒に連通する排気分岐管部の下側に位置していることを特徴とする多気筒エンジンの排気構造。 - 請求項1記載の多気筒エンジンの排気構造において、
上記エンジンは、直列4気筒エンジンであり、
上記エンジンの気筒列方向の一方の端の気筒から順に、1番気筒、2番気筒、3番気筒及び4番気筒として、1番気筒及び4番気筒が、上記休止気筒とされ、2番気筒及び3番気筒が、上記作動気筒とされていることを特徴とする多気筒エンジンの排気構造。
