Description
片面が研磨処理され、その表面にSiO2アンダーコートが施された後、ITO膜が成膜されたガラス基板に対し、フォトリソグラフィー工程及びエッチング工程にてITO膜を所望の電極パターンに形成することにより、セグメント電極基板およびコモン電極基板を作製した。なお、必要に応じて電極の一部表面上にSiO2などによる絶縁層を形成してもよい。

Claims (6)
- 対向配置された第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向に延在する複数の第1電極と、
前記第2基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向と交差する第2方向に延在する複数の第2電極と、
前記第1基板の一面と前記第2基板の一面の相互間に設けられたプレティルト角が90°未満のモノドメイン垂直配向の液晶層を含み、
前記複数の第1電極と前記複数の第2電極との交差する領域の各々において複数の画素が構成され、
前記複数の第1電極の各々は、平面視において両側の電極エッジがそれぞれ前記第1方向と略平行に延びる形状であり、
前記第2電極の各々は、平面視において、少なくとも片側の電極エッジが前記第2方向に対して斜交する線分を含んで折り返す形状を有しており、
前記複数の画素の各々は、前記斜交する線分を含んで画素エッジが画定されており、
前記液晶層は、平面視において層厚方向の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向と前記第2方向と直交する方向とのなす角度が0°より大きく設定されており、前記液晶分子の配向方向と前記斜交する線分の方向とが直交しておらず、
前記複数の第2電極の各々の前記片側の電極エッジの方向が変わる位置である変化点は、前記複数の第1電極の何れか1つと重畳して配置されており、かつ前記複数の画素のうち前記第2方向において隣り合うもの同士の相互間には配置されていない、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記変化点は、前記複数の第1電極の各々の前記両側の電極エッジ間の中央に配置されている、
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記変化点は、前記複数の第1電極の各々の前記両側の電極エッジのうち何れかに近い側に偏って配置されている、
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2電極の各々は、隣り合う前記斜交する線分の相互間に配置されて当該斜交する線分の各々と接続された1つの線分を含み、当該1つの線分は前記第2方向と平行である、
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2電極各々の前記片側の電極エッジは、多数の微小な直線を連結したポリゴンエッジに構成されている、
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記斜交する直線は、前記第2方向を基準にして0°より大きく15°以下の角度で配置されている、請求項1〜5の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
