Description
片面が研磨処理され、その表面にSiO2アンダーコートが施された後、ITO膜が成膜されたガラス基板に対し、フォトリソグラフィー工程及びエッチング工程にてITO膜を所望の電極パターンに形成することにより、セグメント電極基板およびコモン電極基板を作製した。なお、必要に応じて電極の一部表面上にSiO2などによる絶縁層を形成してもよい。

Claims (4)
- 対向配置された第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向に延在する複数の第1電極と、
前記第2基板の一面に設けられており、前記第1方向と直交する第2方向に延在する複数の第2電極と、
前記第1基板の一面と前記第2基板の一面の相互間に設けられたプレティルト角が90°未満のモノドメイン垂直配向の液晶層を含み、
前記複数の第1電極と前記複数の第2電極との交差する領域において複数の画素が構成され、
前記液晶層は、その層厚方向の中央における液晶分子の配向方位が前記第1方向と平行な方向であり、
前記複数の第2電極の各々は、前記第2方向に沿った両側の電極エッジがともに前記第1方向に対して斜交する直線又は曲線のみを含んで周期的に折り返す形状であり、
前記複数の画素の各々は、前記複数の第1電極の何れかの前記第1方向に沿った電極エッジと前記複数の第2電極の何れかの前記斜交する直線又は曲線からなる電極エッジによって画素エッジが画定されており、
前記複数の第2電極の前記電極エッジにおける前記複数の直線又は曲線が相互に接続する交点である複数の変化点は、それらの全てが前記第1電極と平面視において重畳して配置されており、前記複数の画素のうち隣り合うもの同士の相互間には配置されていない、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の変化点の各々は、前記複数の第1電極の何れかの前記両側の電極エッジ間の中央に配置されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数の変化点の各々は、前記複数の第1電極の何れかの前記両側の電極エッジのうち一方の電極エッジに近い側に偏って配置されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記斜交する直線は、前記第2方向を基準にして0°より大きく15°以下の角度で配置されている、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
