Description
図1に、本発明の発泡ローラの製造方法の実施形態を説明する時系列順の模式図を示す。本発明においては、まず、図1(a)に示すように、ローラ材10を用意する。このローラ材10は、シャフト11と、このシャフト11の外周に担持された発泡体よりなる円柱形状の弾性層12とから構成されている。
例えば、アルミパイプ(A6063)等の筒状部材(型部材)の内周面に、例えば、アルミナ等の研磨剤を吹き付けて、筒状部材の内周面を加工することにより、不規則な凹凸を内周面に有する円筒状成形具mを製造することができる。ここで、円筒状成形具mの内周面粗さは、研磨剤の粒径および形状、研磨剤の吐出圧、並びに研磨剤の吐出時間(加工時間)を調整することにより制御することができる。
筒状部材の内周面に、必要に応じて、例えば、スプレーのり等のバインダーを塗布した上で、例えば、銅単体または銅とSUSとの混合物からなる金属粒子を塗着し、塗着した金属粒子を焼結することにより、不規則な凹凸を内周面に有する円筒状成形具mを製造することができる。ここで、円筒状成形具mの内周面粗さは、塗着する金属粒子の粒径および塗着量、並びに焼結温度を調整することにより制御することができる。なお、バインダーを塗布して焼結を行う場合、バインダーは焼結中に気化するので、製造した円筒状成形具mの内周面にバインダーが残留してローラの形成に悪影響を与えることはない。
筒状部材の内周面に、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)等の樹脂または金属からなる粒子を塗着し、粒子を塗着した内周面に、例えば、PTFE、テトラフルオロエチレン・パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体(PFA)、テトラフルオロエチレン・ヘキサフルオロプロピレン共重合体(FEP)等のフッ素系コーティング剤を塗布して、内周面をフッ素樹脂でコーティングすることにより、不規則な凹凸を内周面に有する円筒状成形具mを製造することができる。ここで、円筒状成形具mの内周面粗さは、塗着する粒子の粒径および形状、並びに粒子の塗着量を調整することにより制御することができる。なお、この方法で製造した円筒状成形具mは、内周面がフッ素樹脂でコーティングされているので、離型性が高く、また、ケバ立ちが生じにくい。
金属製の中実形状のシャフト(長さ250mm、直径6mm)の外周に、樹脂発泡体としてのポリウレタンフォームよりなる弾性層を、外径15mm、長さ220mmの円柱形状に取り付け固定してなるローラ材を準備した。この弾性層のポリウレタンフォームは、ブロック状ポリウレタンフォームから、軸方向がブロック状ポリウレタンフォームの発泡方向と平行となるよう切り出すことにより得られ、材質がエステル系、平均セル径が270μm、硬度が80Ask−Fであった。
各供試ローラの弾性層のポリウレタンフォームにトナーを満たして、1mm押し込んだ状態で転がし、幅220mm、転がし距離50mmあたりに吐き出されたトナー重量を測定した。トナー搬送性は、トナー重量が0.20g以上の場合を○(良好)、0.20g未満の場合を×(不良)とした。
各供試ローラを対応するプリンタに装着して画像出しテストを行い、透過濃度計を用いて画像濃度を測定した。画像濃度が規定値に達しているものを○(良好)、達していないものを×(不良)とした。
トナーを表面に均一に塗布した金属スリーブを32rpmにて回転させて、この金属スリーブに、押し込み量1mmにて各供試ローラを10秒間押し当てた。その後、金属スリーブ上の残留トナーを回収し、透過濃度計を用いて残留トナーの量を数値化した。掻き取り性が高いほど、残留トナーは少なくなるので、透過濃度は低くなる。透過濃度が1.10未満の場合を○(良好)、 1.10以上の場合を×(不良)とした。
各供試ローラを対応するプリンタに装着して画像出しテストを行い、印刷画像に掻き取り性不良に起因するゴースト画像が見られないかを目視で確認した。ゴースト画像が見られないものを○(良好)、見られるものを×(不良)とした。
各供試ローラを対応するプリンタに装着して画像出しテストを行い、テスト後のローラについて、毛羽立ちの有無を目視で確認した。
各供試ローラを対応するプリンタに装着して画像出しテストを行い、印刷画像に毛羽に起因する縦スジが見られないか目視で確認した。縦スジが見られないものを○(良好)、見られるものを×(不良)とした。

Claims (1)
- シャフトと、ブロック状ポリウレタンフォームから円柱形状の軸方向が該ブロック状ポリウレタンフォームの発泡方向と平行となるよう切り出すことにより得られ、該シャフトの外周に担持された円柱形状の弾性層と、を有するローラ材を、内周面に不規則な凹凸または長手方向に沿う凹溝を有する円筒状成形具内に挿入し、挿入後のローラ材を、挿入方向とは逆方向に移動させる挿入工程と、該円筒状成形具内に挿入されたローラ材を加熱して、該ローラ材の表面に、該円筒状成形具の内周面における不規則な凹凸または長手方向に沿う凹溝を転写する転写工程と、表面に不規則な凹凸または長手方向に沿う凹溝が転写された該ローラ材を該円筒状成形具内から取り出してローラを得る取出工程と、を含むことを特徴とするトナー供給ローラの製造方法。
