Description
前記像担持体から用紙に前記トナー画像を転写させる転写装置と、
前記像担持体の表面に残留したトナーを除去して廃トナー排出口から廃トナーを排出するクリーニング装置と、
透明部材により開口部が形成され、前記クリーニング装置から排出される廃トナーを該開口部から受け入れて内部に収容する着脱自在の廃トナーボトルと、
前記廃トナーボトルが取り付けられているときに前記廃トナーボトルの開口部を両側から挟む位置に配設された発光部及び受光部を有する光センサーと、
前記廃トナーボトルの着脱に連動してスライドするシャッターであって、前記クリーニング装置の廃トナー排出口を開閉する上面部材と、前記光センサーの光を透過及び遮断させる側面部材と、を有するシャッターと、
前記光センサーから出力される信号に基づいて、前記廃トナーボトルに収容される廃トナーの満杯検知及び前記トナーボトルの着脱検知を行う制御部と、を備え、
前記シャッターの側面部材に、前記シャッターのスライド方向に直交する方向に延びるスリットが形成されており、
前記制御部は、前記光センサーの信号に現れる前記スリットの透過光の波形パターンに基づいて前記廃トナーボトルの着脱検知を行うものである。

Claims (1)
- 表面にトナー画像が現像される像担持体と、
前記像担持体から用紙に前記トナー画像を転写させる転写装置と、
前記像担持体の表面に残留したトナーを除去して廃トナー排出口から廃トナーを排出するクリーニング装置と、
透明部材により開口部が形成され、前記クリーニング装置から排出される廃トナーを該開口部から受け入れて内部に収容する着脱自在の廃トナーボトルと、
前記廃トナーボトルが取り付けられているときに前記廃トナーボトルの開口部を両側から挟む位置に配設された発光部及び受光部を有する光センサーと、
前記廃トナーボトルの着脱に連動してスライドするシャッターであって、前記クリーニング装置の廃トナー排出口を開閉する上面部材と、前記光センサーの光を透過及び遮断させる側面部材と、を有するシャッターと、
前記光センサーから出力される信号に基づいて、前記廃トナーボトルに収容される廃トナーの満杯検知及び前記トナーボトルの着脱検知を行う制御部と、を備え、
前記シャッターの側面部材に、前記シャッターのスライド方向に直交する方向に延びるスリットが形成されており、
前記制御部は、前記光センサーの信号に現れる前記スリットの透過光の波形パターンに基づいて前記廃トナーボトルの着脱検知を行い、
更に、前記制御部は、
前記開口部内のトナーにより前記発光部から前記受光部までの光路が干渉された状態又は遮断に近い状態で前記開口部を透過して前記発光部からの光を受光する場合の前記受光部の受光量から、前記シャッターの前記側面部材により前記光路が遮断された状態における前記受光部の受光量に変化した時点から、
前記スリットから前記開口部を透過せずに直接に前記発光部からの光を受光する場合の前記受光部の受光量に変化した時点までの時間に基づいて、
前記廃トナーボトルが取り外されたことを判断し、
更に、前記スリットから前記開口部を透過せずに直接に前記発光部からの光を受光する場合の前記受光部の受光量から、前記シャッターの前記側面部材により前記光路が遮断された状態における前記発光部の受光量に変化した時点から、
前記開口部内にトナーがない状態で前記開口部を透過して前記発光部からの光を受光する場合の前記受光部の受光量に変化した時点までの時間に基づいて、
前記廃トナーボトルが装着されたことを判断する画像形成装置。
