Description
本発明は、尿道カテーテルなどの身体通路内へ挿入のための医療デバイス用の基材として、高い加水分解で分解可能な材料を用いることが可能である、本発明者等による驚くべき研究結果に基づいている。材料の高い分解性は、医療デバイスを使用後に普通のWCへ洗い流すことを可能にし、使用後にデバイスを処理する方法を、使用者にとって非常に効率的で便利なものとする。高い分解性は、使い捨て医療デバイスを目詰まりのリスクなしにトイレに洗い流すことができることを確実にする。同時に、高い分解性にもかかわらず、医療デバイスが、その目的とする短期使用に対する十分な構造的完全性を、なお保持することができることが見出されている。これにより、以下に挙げる:十分に剛性、強固、可撓性及び透明であること、そして例えば普通の水道水中で湿潤化したときに高い分解性を保証すること、のうちの1つ又は幾つかなど、関心のある特定の適用目的にかなう物理的及び機械的性質を有する材料を選択することが可能となる。
フィル(緑色)、カラメル色(黒褐色)、石炭(黒色)、カロチン(黄橙色);ルエチン(luetin)(黄色);赤カブ赤(赤色)、アントシアニン(赤青色)、炭酸カルシウム(白色)、二酸化チタン(白色)等であってよい。
その分解性が、攪拌下に少なくとも6時間室温で水中に維持した場合、材料が本質的に完全に溶解しているようになる、分解性材料を提供し;そして
分解性材料を該医療デバイスの細長いシャフトに成形する、
工程で特徴付けられる。
上述タイプの分解性カテーテルは、いろいろな方法で滅菌してよい。例えば、分解性カ
テーテルは、以下で論じられるように電子線照射により滅菌してもよい。
水中での分解性カテーテルの溶解能を試験するために、3〜4cmの無菌カテーテルサンプルを、通常の水道水と一緒に容器に入れた。水は11℃の水温であった。WCでの通常の水洗は約6Lの水を含み、試験サンプル用の水の量は、カテーテルの全長に比例して範囲を定めた。従って、サンプルは、350〜550mlの水に配置された。乱流をシミュレーションする、好ましくは1000rpmで、攪拌しながら水中に保持して、サンプルを観察した結果、1時間後にすべての試験サンプルでほんの小さな非溶解部分が残り、そして2〜3時間後には試験サンプルは水に完全に溶解したものと結論された。
滅菌及び初期湿潤化後の分解性カテーテルの完全性及び機械的安定性も試験した。これは尿道モデルにおいてカテーテルを導入及び後戻しさせることによって行った。
上述の分解性カテーテルは、湿潤化時に低摩擦面も示す。従来、尿道カテーテルは、初期湿潤後のカテーテルに低摩擦特性を与えるために、しばしば親水性コーティングのコーティングが与えられる。しかしながら、上述の糖ベースの材料は、驚くべきことに、非常に低表面摩擦を示し、いずれの追加の低摩擦コーティングをも不要にすることが見出された。
カテーテルの作製のための1つの代表的な材料バッチは、以下のように作製された:25kgの黄色シロップ(47.7wt−%);12kgの小麦粉(22.9wt−%);12Lの水(22.9wt−%);1dlの塩化ナトリウム(NaCl)(0.4wt−%)、710gのゼラチン(1.4wt−%)及びゼラチンを溶解するための2.5Lの水(4.8wt−%)。
カテーテル作製のための、及び押出成形に好適な、代わりの代表的材料バッチは、以下のように作製された:5kgの黄色シロップ(9.4wt−%);18kgの小麦粉(33.8wt−%);10kgの家庭用白糖(18.8wt−%);20Lの水(37.6wt−%);及び216.5g(1dl)の塩化ナトリウム(NaCl)(0.41wt−%)。
押出成形に好適でもあるカテーテル作製用の1つの他の代表的材料バッチは、追加実施例1のように上述の混合物に類似しているが、少し異なる割合である。
押出成形にも好適なカテーテル作製用の1つの他の代表的材料バッチは、上述の混合物に類似しているが、ここでゼラチンは塩化アンモニウム(サルミアク)と置き換えられている。
小麦粉は仕上がって(completed)いてもよく、そして又は例えばトウモロコシの粉と置き換えられてよい。
Claims (19)
- 身体通路内に挿入するための細長いシャフトを含んでなる、短期使用のための水洗可能な尿道カテーテルであって、少なくとも細長いシャフトは分解性材料で作られており、分解性材料が、少なくとも40質量%の、単糖、二糖、オリゴ糖及び多糖の少なくとも1種を含んでなり、その分解性は、材料が少なくとも6時間室温で乱流水中に維持される場合、本質的に完全に溶解することになるが、少なくとも5分間水中でその構造的完全性を保持することを特徴とする、上記尿道カテーテル。
- 材料の分解性が、少なくとも4時間、室温で水中に維持される場合、材料が基本的に完全溶解する分解性である、請求項1に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 細長いシャフトが、細長いシャフトの少なくとも主要部分を通して延びる内部ルーメンを備えている、請求項1又は2に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性が、材料が少なくとも10分間水中でその構造的完全性を保持することである、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 尿道カテーテル全体が、分解性材料で作られている、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性材料が、単糖、二糖、及びオリゴ糖の少なくとも1つを含んでなる、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性材料が、少なくとも40質量%の、単糖、二糖及び/又はオリゴ糖を含んでなる、請求項6に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性材料が、主として水並びに少なくとも1つの糖及びデンプンを含んでなり、そして分解性材料が、少なくとも90質量%の該成分を含んでなる、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性材料が、稠度と弾性を制御する添加剤を含んでなる、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 分解性材料が、湿潤時に低摩擦表面を呈する、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 尿道カテーテルが、カテーテル法前の湿潤化及び短期カテーテル法を含む、尿道カテーテルのための通常使用シーケンス中、その物理的完全性を保持する、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。
- 尿道カテーテルが、照射による滅菌に耐えられる、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の尿道カテーテル。

分解性材料が、少なくとも40質量%の、単糖、二糖、オリゴ糖及び多糖の少なくとも1種を含んでなり、該材料が少なくとも6時間室温で水中に維持した場合本質的に完全に溶解することになる分解性の、分解性材料を備える工程;及び
分解性材料を該尿道カテーテルの細長いシャフトに成形する工程;
を特徴とする、上記方法。 - 前記成形工程が、少なくとも1つの射出成形、押出成形及び溶融紡糸を含んでなる、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 細長いシャフトの端部を円みを帯びた先端部分に成形する更なる工程を含んでなる、請求項14又は15に記載の方法であって、該成形が、少なくとも1つの、射出成形、注型、オープンダイス成形及び溶融を含む、上記方法。
- シャフト壁に開口部を成形する更なる工程を含んでなる請求項16に記載の方法であって、該成形工程が少なくとも1つの、ポンチング及びブランキングを含む、上記方法。
- 細長いシャフトの端部をフレアコネクタ端部に成形する更なる工程を含んでなる、請求項14〜17のいずれか1項に記載の方法であって、該成形が、少なくとも1つの、射出成形、注型、オープンダイス成形及び溶融を含む、上記方法。
- 稠度と弾性を制御する添加剤が、コラーゲンベースの材料である、請求項9に記載の尿道カテーテル。
