Claims (2)
- 工具本体の外周に工具先端から基端側に向かう螺旋状の切り屑排出溝が一若しくは複数設けられた刃部と、基端側に前記刃部より径大なシャンク本体を有するシャンク部とを少なくとも含んで構成され、前記刃部は炭化タングステン及びコバルトを含有する超硬合金で形成され、前記シャンク本体はステンレス鋼で形成されており、前記シャンク本体の先端側には先端側程先細るシャンクテーパ部が形成され、このシャンクテーパ部の少なくともシャンク本体近傍部位はステンレス鋼で形成された穴明け工具の製造方法であって、工具本体に工具先端面と切り屑排出溝とを形成する前に、少なくとも前記超硬合金で形成された刃部の外周面並びに前記シャンクテーパ部の前記ステンレス鋼で形成された部位に硬質皮膜を被覆し、この硬質皮膜を被覆した後、前記シャンク本体の外周面を研削し該シャンク本体の外周面に硬質皮膜が被覆されていない状態とすることを特徴とする穴明け工具の製造方法。
- 請求項1記載の穴明け工具の製造方法において、前記シャンク本体の硬さが、ロックウェルCスケールで35HRC以上であり、硬質皮膜は、金属成分として少なくともAlとCrとを含み、非金属成分として少なくともNを含むものであり、この硬質皮膜の膜厚は1μm以上5μm以下であることを特徴とする穴明け工具の製造方法。
