Description
この方法は、卓越した不透明化特性を有するPCCが製造可能であることが示されている。PCCは、典型的には、磨砕炭酸カルシウム(いわゆるGCC)と比べて用紙の不透明化および増白において卓越している。ロゼット様凝集構造を有する犬牙状(scalenohedral)形態の沈降炭酸カルシウムは、高い用紙不透明度を付与することがわかっている。また、炭酸化過程は、紙用充填剤として、および紙用コーティングにおいてのどちらでも、種々の用途のための種々の粒子形状および粒径の製造の柔軟性が示されている。
(a)低純度の二価金属イオンカーボネート材料を準備する工程、該二価金属イオンカーボネート材料は廃棄物から回収されたものである;
(b)二価金属イオン酸化物を得るために工程(a)の二価金属イオンカーボネート材料を焼成させる工程;
(c)二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液を得るために工程(b)で得られた二価金属イオン酸化物を消化させる工程;
(d)沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を得るために、二酸化炭素含有化合物を用いて、工程(c)で得られた二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液を炭酸化する工程;
(e)離散型沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を得るために、工程(d)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を後処理する工程
(f)生成される反応混合物を得るために、工程(e)で得られた離散型沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を、高純度の二価金属イオン酸化物を消化させることによって得られた二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液と混合する工程;および
(g)工程(d)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート粒子と比べて改善された明度を有する沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物を得るために、工程(f)の得られた反応混合物を炭酸化する工程
を含む方法によって実質的に改善され得ることを見出した。
懸濁液のpHの測定
懸濁液のpHは、25℃で、Mettler Toledo Seven Easy pHメータおよびMettler Toledo InLab(登録商標)Expert Pro pH電極を用いて測定した。
BET比表面積(SSAとも表示される。)は、ISO 9277に従い、Tristar II 3020(MICROMERITICS(商標)社によって販売)を用いて測定した。
Sedigraph(商標)5100
粒状物質の重量中央粒子直径および粒子直径質量分布は沈降法、即ち、重量測定分野での沈降挙動の解析によって測定した。測定は、Sedigraph(商標) 5100(MICROMERITICS(商標)社によって販売)により行う。
1分間の攪拌後のブルックフィールド粘度を、RVT型Brookfield(商標)粘度計の使用により20℃の温度および100rpm(毎分回転数)回転速度で、適切なディスクスピンドル2、3または4を伴って測定した。
固形物の重量(物質の固形分とも称する。)は、固形物質の重量を水性懸濁液の総重量で除算することにより求めた。
得られた粒子の顔料明度および黄色度指数は、ELREPHO 450x(Datacolor社製)を使用し、それぞれISO 2469およびDIN 6167に従って測定した。
パーカプリントサーフ粗さはISO 8791−4:2007に従って測定した。単位:μmで明示される。pps−粗さは、紙シートの表面上、即ちxy面における空気流を測定することによって得られる。測定は規定の測定デバイスにより、紙表面に対して測定設備の規定の圧力で、紙の反対側には規定のゴムプレートを伴って行い、得られる値は圧力差から計算したものであり、空気が測定設備と紙表面間を通過することを可能にするスリットの幅を示す。
この比較例には、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを出発物質とし、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを湿式磨砕し、次いで、高純度水酸化カルシウムの水性スラリーと一緒に炭酸化反応に使用する、炭酸カルシウム生成物の製造のための先行技術の方法を記載する。
この本発明の実施例には、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを出発物質とし、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを焼成させてパルプ工場廃棄物石灰(CaO)を得、消化させ、続いて、得られた石灰乳を炭酸化させ、加工し、離散型超微粒子を特色とする特定のパルプ工場廃棄物沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)を得る、炭酸カルシウム生成物の製造のための本発明の方法を示す。次いで、得られた物質を、高純度水酸化カルシウムの水性スラリー(いわゆる「石灰乳」)と一緒に炭酸化反応に供する。
この比較例には、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを出発物質とし、パルプ工場廃棄物から得られた炭酸カルシウムを焼成させてパルプ工場廃棄物石灰(CaO)を得る、炭酸カルシウム生成物の製造のための先行技術の方法を示す。パルプ工場廃棄物石灰は、次いでPCC等級高純度生石灰と混合し、消化させ、得られた石灰乳混合物は、次いで炭酸化反応に使用する。
以下の比較例と実施例に、本発明の方法に従って得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物の、プレコーティング配合物中の顔料としての使用を示す。
比較例3に記載の先行技術の方法で得られたPCC/廃棄物CaCO3複合生成物をフィルタープレスで機械的に脱水し、排出された濾過ケークを、充分な量の当業者によく知られた適切な分散化剤の存在下、ハイシェアミキサー内で再分散させ、コーティング用顔料として使用され得る高固形物スラリーを得た。変換(メイクダウン)後の生成物を、72.8%乾燥物のPCC/廃棄物CaCO3複合生成物を含む水性スラリー(即ち、高固形物スラリー)として回収した。
本発明の実施例2に記載の本発明の方法で得られたPCC/廃棄物CaCO3複合生成物をフィルタープレスで機械的に脱水し、排出された濾過ケークをハイシェアミキサー内で再分散させ、コーティング用顔料として使用され得る高固形物スラリーを得た。濾過ケークをスラリーに変換(スラリーメイクダウン)中、充分な量の当業者によく知られた適切な分散化剤を添加した。変換(メイクダウン)後の生成物を、66.8%の乾燥物のPCC/廃棄物CaCO3複合生成物を含む水性スラリーとして回収した。
コーターパイロット試験を400m/分で、ダブルプレコート包装用板紙の性質に対する種々のコーティング配合物の影響を評価する目的で行った。
Claims (14)
- 廃棄物から回収された二価金属イオンカーボネートからの沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物の製造のための方法であって、前記沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物が改善された明度を有するものであり、以下の工程:
(a)低純度の二価金属イオンカーボネート材料を準備する工程、前記二価金属イオンカーボネート材料は廃棄物から回収されたものである;
(b)二価金属イオン酸化物を得るために工程(a)の前記二価金属イオンカーボネート材料を焼成させる工程;
(c)二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液を得るために工程(b)で得られた前記二価金属イオン酸化物を消化させる工程;
(d)沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を得るために、二酸化炭素含有化合物を用いて、工程(c)で得られた前記二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液を炭酸化する工程;
(e)離散型沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を得るために、工程(d)で得られた前記沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を後処理する工程;
(f)生成される反応混合物を得るために、工程(e)で得られた前記離散型沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子を、高純度の二価金属イオン酸化物を消化させることによって得られた二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液と混合する工程;および
(g)工程(d)で得られた前記沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート粒子と比べて改善された明度を有する沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物を得るために、工程(f)の得られた前記反応混合物を炭酸化する工程
を含む、方法。 - 工程(g)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物の少なくとも一部を、少なくとも1回のさらなる炭酸化工程に供し、このとき、工程(g)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物の少なくとも一部を、まず、高純度の二価金属イオン酸化物を消化させることによって得られた二価金属イオン水酸化物の水性懸濁液と混合し、生成される反応混合物を得、次いで、得られた反応混合物を炭酸化に供することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(a)の低純度の二価金属イオンカーボネート材料が、式M2+CO3 2−を有する物質であり、式中、M2+は、Be2+、Mg2+、Ca2+、Sr2+およびBa2+を含む群より選択される二価金属イオンであることを特徴とする、請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 工程(e)の後処理が、機械的デアグロメレーションによって、または工程(d)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子の再結晶によって行われることを特徴とする、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 工程(e)で得られた離散型沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート微粒子が、>10から500nmの範囲の粒径、および5から>15m2/gの範囲の比表面積を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 工程(g)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート粒子が、ISO 2469に従って測定したとき、88から94%の範囲のISO明度R457を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 工程(g)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート粒子が、ISO 9277を用いてBET法に従って測定したとき、3から30m2/gの範囲の比表面積を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 工程(g)で得られた沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート粒子が、0.5から7μmの範囲の重量中央粒子直径d50を有することを特徴とする、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 工程(a)の低純度の二価金属イオンカーボネート材料が、炭酸カルシウム材料であり、工程(g)の沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物が、沈降炭酸カルシウムであることを特徴とする、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 沈降炭酸カーボネートが、犬牙状沈降炭酸カルシウムであることを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートを濃縮して、50%以上の固形分を有する沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートの水性スラリーを形成することを特徴とする、請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートを乾燥させて、乾燥沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートを形成することを特徴とする、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- コーティング配合物中の顔料としての、または製紙、プラスチックおよび塗料工業における充填剤としての、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の方法により製造された沈降二価金属イオンカーボネート生成物を含んだ水性懸濁液、または請求項12に記載の方法により製造された乾燥沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートの使用。
- 塗料、ゴム、プラスチック、建築材料およびインクの分野における請求項12に記載の方法により製造された乾燥沈降二価金属イオンカーボネートの使用。
