Description
Claims (28)
- ある波長を有する光を伝播することができる光ファイバであって、
ある直径を有するコアと、
ある幅を有する間隙を備える、前記コアを囲む第1のクラッドと、
前記第1のクラッドを囲む外側層と、
前記第1のクラッドと前記外側層の間に配置された少なくとも1つの追加の層であって、
(a)前記コアの屈折率以下の屈折率を有する第1の追加の層及び
(b)前記第1の追加の層の屈折率未満の屈折率を有する第2の追加の層
を備える少なくとも1つの追加の層と、
前記コアと前記少なくとも1つの追加の層とを機械的に結合する複数のウェブとを備え、
前記第1のクラッドは気体で構成されており、前記ファイバは、0.8より大きい開口数を有する光ファイバ。 - 前記ファイバは、100dB/kmより小さい損失を有するように構成される請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、10dB/kmより小さい損失を有するように構成される請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、前記ファイバを伝搬する光の波長の2倍より小さな直径を有する請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、前記ファイバを伝搬する光の波長の0.6倍より小さな直径を有する請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、偏光モードを保持するのに十分な楕円率を有する請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、1dB未満の損失で5cm未満の曲げ直径で動作可能である請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、2.4未満の正規化周波数を有する請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記間隙は、気体で満たされているか、又は減圧されている、請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアの前記直径に対する前記間隙の前記幅の比は、5より大きい請求項1乃至9のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コア及び前記間隙の直径は、前記間隙に少なくとも40パーセントの光があるように構成されている請求項1乃至10のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 各前記ウェブは、前記ファイバを伝搬する光の波長の10分の1未満の横断方向厚みを有する請求項1乃至11のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記開口数は、0.9より大きい請求項1乃至12のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記開口数は、1である請求項1乃至13のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、負の分散を有する請求項1乃至14のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記分散の大きさは300ps/nm/kmよりも大きい請求項15に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、溶融シリカを含む請求項1乃至16のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアの少なくとも一部は、ゲルマニウム、燐、フッ素、ボロン、アルミニウム、チタニウム、錫、鉛、および希土類元素からなるグループから選択された1つ以上のドーパントでドープされる請求項1乃至17のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記外側層は、第2のクラッドを備える請求項1乃至18のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- モーダル・フィールド面積が、前記部分に沿って幅で単調に増大するように、前記間隙幅は、前記ファイバの一部に沿って単調に減少する請求項1乃至19のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記間隙幅は、ゼロまで減少する請求項20に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、前記ファイバを伝搬する光の波長よりも小さいモーダル・フィールド径を有する請求項1乃至21のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、前記コアの直径の2倍よりも大きいモーダル・フィールド径を有する請求項1乃至22のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバ。
- 請求項1乃至23のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバを有する分散補償ファイバを備える通信システム。
- 請求項1乃至23のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバを備えるファイバ・チャープされたパルス増幅器。
- 請求項1乃至23のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバを備える非線形光デバイス。
- 請求項1乃至23のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバを備えるセンサ・システム。
- 請求項1乃至23のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバを備える光ファイバケーブル。
