Abstract

Claims (30)
- ある波長を有する光を伝播することができる光ファイバであって、
コアと、
ある幅を有する空隙を備える、前記コアを囲む空気クラッドと、
前記空気クラッドを囲む外側層と、
前記空隙がその間に配置されるように、前記コアと前記外側層を機械的に結合する複数のウェブとを備え、
前記ファイバは、(i)約0.8より大きい開口数と、(ii)約100dB/kmより小さい損失とを有する光ファイバ。 - 前記コアは、前記波長の約2倍より小さな直径を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、偏光モードを保持するのに十分な楕円率を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、1dB未満の損失で5cm未満の曲げ直径で動作可能である請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、約2.4未満の正規化周波数を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアの前記直径に対する前記空隙の前記幅の比は、約2より大きい請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 各前記ウェブは、波長の約10分の1未満の横断方向厚みを有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記開口数は、約0.9より大きい請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、負の分散を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアは、溶融シリカを含む請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記コアの少なくとも一部は、ゲルマニウム、燐、フッ素、ボロン、アルミニウム、チタニウム、錫、鉛、および希土類元素からなるグループから選択された1つ以上のドーパントでドープされる請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。

- 前記第1のクラッドと前記外側層との間に配置された少なくとも1つの低屈折率層をさらに備え、前記低屈折率層は、前記外側層の屈折率より小さい屈折率を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、約前記波長だけ小さいモーダル・フィールド径を有する請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。

ある幅を有する間隙を備える、前記コアを囲む第1のクラッドと、
前記第1のクラッドを囲む外側層と、

(i)前記コア直径は、約3マイクロメートルより小さく、(ii)前記ファイバは、約100dB/kmより小さい損失を有する光ファイバ。 - 前記コアは、偏光モードを保持するのに十分な楕円率を有する請求項16に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記ファイバは、1dB未満の損失で5cm未満の曲げ直径で動作可能である請求項16に記載の光ファイバ。
