Claims (15)
- 第1の表面上に全ての電気端子を有するフリップチップ型であり、前記第1の表面に隣接する側表面及び前記第1の表面に対向する第2の表面を有する発光ダイオード(LED)ダイと、
前面及び裏面を有し、前記LEDダイから放射される光が結合される、固体材料から形成された実質的に長方形の光導波路と、
前記光導波路の前記前面上の液晶層積層体のパネルと、
前記LEDダイの前記電気端子に結合した電気端子を有するサブマウントと、
を含み、第1の方向で前記光導波路の前記前面から放射される光が、バックライトとして前記液晶層積層体のパネルの裏面を照射し、
前記LEDダイは前記光導波路に形成されたキャビティ内に取り付けられ、前記LEDダイの前記第1の表面は実質的に第1の方向に向き、前記LEDダイの少なくとも一部は前記光導波路の前記前面と前記光導波路の前記裏面との間の面内において位置し、
前記液晶層積層体のパネルは前記光導波路の縁を超えて延び、前記LEDダイは、前記液晶層積層体のパネルによって支持されるように、前記光導波路の縁を超えて延びる前記液晶層積層体のパネルに前記サブマウントを介して取り付けられ、
前記光は、前記LEDダイの側面からのみ前記光導波路に放射され、
前記LEDダイの前記第2の表面に対向する切り替え可能ミラーをさらに含み、前記切り替え可能ミラーは、前記LEDダイの前記第2の表面に面する前記切り替え可能ミラーの表面が反射性である第1の状態と、前記切り替え可能ミラーが実質的に透過性である第2の状態との間で電気的に切り替え可能であることを特徴とするLCDデバイス。 - 前記LEDダイの前記第2の表面に面するリフレクタをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LEDダイの前記電気端子に結合した電気端子を有するサブマウントをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記液晶層積層体のパネルは、前記光導波路の縁を超えて延び、前記デバイスは前記光導波路の縁を超えて延びる前記液晶層積層体のパネルの一部に取り付けられた固定具をさらに含み、前記固定具は前記サブマウントを支持することを特徴とする請求項3に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記サブマウントの少なくとも一部分は、前記光導波路の前記前面と前記液晶層積層体のパネルの前記裏面との間の面内にあることを特徴とする請求項3に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 白色光が生成されるように、前記LEDダイによって放射される光の色変換のために、前記LEDダイに近接する蛍光体をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記光導波路と前記液晶層積層体のパネルとの間に拡散器をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LEDダイから熱を取り除くために、前記LEDダイに熱的に結合された放熱板をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記第2の状態において、前記切り替え可能ミラーによって透過される光の光パターンを変更するために、前記切り替え可能ミラーの光出力側に集光光学部品をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記切り替え可能ミラーがデジタルカメラのフラッシュとして用いられる前記第2の状態にある間に、前記LEDダイに電流パルスを与えるためのLEDドライバをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記デジタルカメラを含む携帯電話に収容されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LEDダイは、プリント基板を用いることなく前記液晶層積層体のパネルに前記サブマウントを介して取り付けられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LCDデバイスの合計厚さは約2mmより少ないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LEDダイは青色光を放射することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
- 前記LEDダイに電気的に結合されるLEDドライバと、前記液晶層積層体のパネルに電気的に結合されるLCDドライバとをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLCDデバイス。
