車庫の床、スポーツ用グラウンドの表面、屋外の地表、その他の基材(substrate)の表面を覆って敷設される従来型のモジュール化された(寸法又は機能が規格化されている部品単位で構成された、modular)射出成形されたタイルが知られている。一般的に、これらのタイルは12インチ平方(約30センチメートル平方)から13インチ平方(約33センチメートル平方)の寸法であり、手作業によって組み合わされたり取り外されたりする。これらタイルに共通な一つの特徴は、道具をほとんど、あるいは全く利用せずに、それぞれのタイルに成形されている雄型の連結部と雌型の連結部とを活用してそれらタイルを一回のスナップ式(掛け留め、snap)動作で接続して目的の形状にすることができることである。

本発明のモジュール化されたタイルは、床表面を形成するために使用することができる。その代表的な部分100が、図1に図示されている。この図示された実施形態では、床表面100は、色以外は同一である第一の床タイルAと第二の床タイルBを含んだタイル102でなる。床タイル102Aは、それぞれ第一のポリマー化合物で射出成形されたタイル本体104を有する。好適には、第一のポリマー化合物は、固化時に相対的に硬質であり、ポリプロピレンと高分子ポリエチレンとを含んだポリオレフィン類、硬質熱可塑性ポリウレタン(TPU)、アクリロニトリルブタジエンスチレン(ABS)および硬質ポリ塩化ビニル(PVC)からなる一群から選択することができる。第一のポリマー化合物は、さらに、表面平坦性の達成を助けるための例えばタルク(滑石、雲母)のような充填剤、および顔料を含むことができる。床タイル102Bは、タイル本体104を有しており、タイル本体104は、好適には、顔料と着色料の選択を除いてタイル102Aのタイル本体104と同一であるポリマー化合物でなる。各々の床タイル102は、好適にはその上面108に、隆起したクッション部材106の配列を有する。好適にはその上面108に間隔をあけて離れて提供されているクッション部材106は、第一のポリマー化合物とは異なる特性を備えた第二のポリマー化合物を使用して上面108にオーバーモールドされる。

前記少なくとも一つの下側の支持部材の前記第二のポリマー化合物で形成されている一部分と、前記少なくとも一つの上側のクッション部材とは連続相で成形されており、前記貫通穴を通じて互いに接続されており、
前記タイル本体の上面には複数の上側のクッション部材が配置されており、前記タイル本体の下面からは複数の支持部材が下方に延出しており、それぞれの前記複数の支持部材の一部分と前記複数の上側のクッション部材とは連続相で成形されており、前記貫通穴を通じて互いに接続されており、
それぞれの前記複数の上側のクッション部材は横方向の縁部を有しており、前記複数の支持部材の一つは前記複数の上側のクッション部材の一つとそれぞれ位置合わせされており、前記支持部材の他のものは前記上側のクッション部材の横方向の縁部の位置から横方向において位置ずれしていることを特徴とするモジュール化された床タイル。 - 複数のタイルを組み合わせて床面を構成するためのモジュール化された床タイルであって、
第一のポリマー化合物で成形されており、上面と下面とを備えており、更に前記上面から前記下面にまで延びる複数の貫通穴を有しているタイル本体と、
前記第一のポリマー化合物とは異なる第二のポリマー化合物で成形されており、前記タイル本体の前記上面に配置されるように成形されている少なくとも一つの上側のクッション部材と、
一部分が前記第二のポリマー化合物で形成されており、前記タイル本体の前記下面から下方に延在する少なくとも一つの下側の支持部材と、
を備えており、
前記少なくとも一つの下側の支持部材の前記第二のポリマー化合物で形成されている一部分と、前記少なくとも一つの上側のクッション部材とは連続相で成形されており、前記貫通穴を通じて互いに接続されており、
前記タイル本体の上面には複数の上側のクッション部材が配置されており、前記タイル本体の下面からは複数の支持部材が下方に延出しており、それぞれの前記複数の支持部材の一部分と前記複数の上側のクッション部材とは連続相で成形されており、前記貫通穴を通じて互いに接続されており、
前記タイルは、互いに横方向に離れている複数の上側のクッション部材からなる複数のグループと、複数の支持部材からなる複数のグループと、を有しており、前記複数の上側のクッション部材と、前記上側のクッション部材の下に位置するグループの中の前記複数の支持部材の一部分とは連続相で成形されており、前記貫通穴を通じて互いに接続されていることを特徴とするモジュール化された床タイル。 - 前記第一のポリマー化合物の硬度は、前記第二のポリマー化合物の硬度とは異なることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- 前記第一のポリマー化合物の硬度は、前記第二のポリマー化合物の硬度よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項3記載の床タイル。
- 前記第一のポリマー化合物の色は、前記第二のポリマー化合物の色と異なることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- それぞれのグループのクッション部材と支持部材とに対して、第二のポリマー化合物用の注ぎ口が、前記タイル本体を貫通して前記タイル本体の上面から下面にまで延びるように形成されており、それぞれのグループの前記上側のクッション部材と、それぞれの支持部材の部分とは前記注ぎ口を通って導入された第二のポリマー化合物によって連続相で成形されていることを特徴とする請求項2記載の床タイル。
- 前記第一のポリマー化合物は、ポリオレフィン、熱可塑性ポリウレタン、アクリロニトリルブタジエンスチレン、及びポリ塩化ビニルで構成される群から選択されるポリマーを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- 前記第二のポリマー化合物は、スチレンエチレンブチレンスチレン系の熱可塑性エラストマー、熱可塑性ポリウレタン、及びポリ塩化ビニルで構成される群から選択されるポリマーを含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- 前記第二のポリマー化合物は、熱可塑性エラストマーであることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- 前記少なくとも一つのクッション部材は横方向の縁部を有しており、前記少なくとも一つの支持部材は環状であり、前記クッション部材の前記横方向の縁部と位置合わせされていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の床タイル。
- 複数の床タイルを組み合わせて床面を構成するためのモジュール化された床タイルの成形方法であって、
熱可塑性の第一のポリマー化合物によって、上面と下面とを有する床タイルのタイル本体を成形するステップと、
前記第一のポリマー化合物とは異なる熱可塑性の第二のポリマー化合物によって、それぞれが互いに離間して配置されている複数のクッション部材を前記上面にオーバーモールドするステップと、
クッション部材が成形されるそれぞれの場所の周囲に、前記上面の上方に位置するように滑らかなクラッシュリングを形成するステップと、
前記オーバーモールドするステップの最中に、前記第二のポリマー化合物のバリの形成を実質的に阻止するために前記クラッシュリングで前記第二のポリマー化合物を遮断するステップと、
を備えていることを特徴とする方法。
