Description
本発明は、食品および種子製品を含む、様々な水分および/または酸素に感受性のある製品のための包装材料に使用するのに適した多層複合体、およびかかる複合体を作製する方法に関する。
本発明の他の特徴、および利点は、以下の説明および添付図面から明らかとなる。
本発明の一態様によるバリア複合体の一例を図1に示す。複合体10は、第1の非印刷面20および第2の印刷面25を有する基材15を含んでいる。第1の面20は、ホールドアウト・コーティング30およびブロッキング防止特性を有するバリア層35を備えている。基材15の第2の面25は、プリント・コーティング40およびブロッキング防止コーティング45を備えている。
また本発明は、ブロッキングの低減したバリア複合体を形成する方法についても企図している。特に、本発明はブロッキング防止特性を有する紙バリア複合体の形成方法について企図している。この複合体は、プレミアム包装または他の高品質印刷用途に使用することができる。図3に概要を示す一態様において、方法100は、印刷面と非印刷面を有する紙基材を用意すること110と、非印刷面にホールドアウト・コーティングを塗布すること120と、ホールドアウト・コーティング上にブロッキング防止特性を有するバリア層を形成すること130と、紙の印刷面にブロッキング防止コーティングを塗布すること140とを含む。次いで、複合体を、ロールに巻くこと150ができる。
水蒸気透過速度(WVTR)の全ての測定は、その全体を参照により本明細書に援用するASTM F 1249−90(1995年再承認)表題「Water Vapor Trsnsmission Rate Through Plastic Film and Sheeting Using a Modulated Infrared.Sensor」を使用して行った。
約1.3%のELVANOL 51−05 PVOHおよび約25%のDARAN8730を含む約6乾燥ポンド/リームのホールドアウト・コーティングを、紙の非光沢面に塗布し乾燥した。次いで、バリア層組成物を、約5乾燥ポンド/リームの量をホールドアウト・コーティング上に塗布した。バリア層組成物は、約5ポンド/リームのDARAN8730、約0.1628g/m 2 (約0.1ポンド/リーム)のLudox TM−50および約0.0814g/m 2 (約0.05ポンド/リーム)のMichemlube160を含んでいた。
使用した基材は、約65.1008g/m 2 (40ポンド/リーム)または約56.9632g/m 2 (35ポンド/リーム)のStora Enso印刷紙であった。紙は、光沢のあるクレー・コートを有する面をブレード被覆し、反対側の光沢のない面を抄紙機上でスターチ・コートした。
一面をブレード被覆し、反対側の面を光沢のないスターチ・コーティングした光沢のあるクレー・コートを有する34#/リームDunn UltraIl紙を基材として使用した。
Claims (20)
- 第1の面と第2の面を有する紙基材と、
紙基材の第1の面上に重なるホールドアウト・コーティングと、
紙基材の第2の面上に重なるプリント・コーティングと、
ホールドアウト・コーティング上に重なるバリア層と、
プリント・コーティング上に重なるブロッキング防止コーティングとを
含み、
該バリア層がポリ塩化ビニリデンまたはポリビニルアルコールを含み、該ブロッキング防止コーティングが紙基材の第2の面の側の、複合体の最も外側の表面を少なくとも部分的に画定するものであり、また、ブロッキング防止コーティングはコロイドシリカ、またはコロイドシリカおよびワックスからなることを特徴とする複合体。 - 前記ブロッキング防止コーティングが紙基材の1平方メートル当たり0.0016グラムから1.6275グラムまでの量のコロイドシリカからなる請求項1に記載の複合体。
- 前記バリア層がブロッキング防止特性を有する請求項1または2に記載の複合体。
- 前記バリア層が、さらに、コロイドシリカ、ワックス、およびコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せからなる群から選択されるブロッキング防止剤を含む請求項3に記載の複合体。
- 前記バリア層上に重なるブロッキング防止層を更に含む請求項1または2に記載の複合体。
- バリア層上に重なるブロッキング防止層が、ポリマー・キャリヤー材料、およびコロイドシリカ、ワックス、およびコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せからなる群から選択されるブロッキング防止剤を含む請求項5に記載の複合体。
- 前記ポリマー・キャリヤー材料がポリ塩化ビニリデンからなる請求項6に記載の複合体。
- バリア複合体の形成方法であって、
第1の面および第2の面を有する紙を用意すること、
紙の第1の面上にバリア層を形成すること、および
紙の第2の面にブロッキング防止コーティングを塗布することを含み、
該バリア層がポリ塩化ビニリデンまたはポリビニルアルコールを含み、該ブロッキング防止コーティングがコロイドシリカ、またはコロイドシリカおよびワックスからなり、また、該ブロッキング防止コーティングがバリア複合体の最も外側の表面を画定することを特徴とする形成方法。 - ブロッキング防止剤をバリア層に混和することを更に含み、該ブロッキング防止剤が、コロイドシリカ、ワックス、またはコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せを含む請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記バリア層上にブロッキング防止層を形成することを更に含み、該ブロッキング防止層が、
ポリマー材料、および
コロイドシリカ、ワックス、またはコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せを含む請求項8に記載の方法。 - 前記バリア層を形成する前に、前記紙の第1の面にホールドアウト・コーティングを塗布することを更に含む請求項8〜10のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記ブロッキング防止コーティングを塗布する前に、前記紙の第2の面にプリント・コーティングを塗布することを更に含む請求項8〜11のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記バリア複合体をロールに巻くことを更に含む請求項8〜12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 第1の面と第2の面を有する基材と、
基材の第1の面上に重なる、ポリ塩化ビニリデンおよびポリビニルアルコールからなる群から選択されるポリマーを含むポリマー層と、
基材の第2の面上に重なるコロイドシリカ、またはコロイドシリカおよびワックスからなるブロッキング防止層とを含む複合体であって、
該ブロッキング防止層が複合体の第1の最も外側の表面を画定し、また、該複合体が第1の最も外側の表面と反対側に第2の最も外側の表面を有し、該第2の最も外側の表面がブロッキング防止特性を有することを特徴とする複合体。 - 前記ポリマー層が、更に、コロイドシリカ、ワックス、およびコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せからなる群から選択されたブロッキング防止剤を含み、該ポリマー層が第2の最も外側の表面を画定する請求項14記載の複合体。
- 前記ブロッキング防止層が第1のブロッキング防止層であり、
複合体が、更に、前記ポリマー層上に重なる第2のブロッキング防止層を含み、該ポリマー層が第2のブロッキング防止層と基材との間に配置されていて、該第2のブロッキング防止層が第2の最も外側の表面を画定する請求項14に記載の複合体。 - 第2のブロッキング防止層が、
ポリ塩化ビニリデンおよびポリビニルアルコールからなる群から選択されたポリマー材料と、
コロイドシリカ、ワックス、およびこれらの組合せからなる群から選択されたブロッキング防止剤とを
含む請求項16に記載の複合体。 - 第1のブロッキング防止層および第2のブロッキング防止層の各々が、複合体の、それぞれの最も外側の表面を少なくとも部分的に画定する請求項16または17に記載の複合体。
- 更に、前記ポリマー層と基材との間に配置されるように、基材の第1の面上に重なって設けられたホールドアウト・コーティングと、
前記ブロッキング防止層と基材との間に配置されるように、基材の第2の面上に重なって設けられたプリント・コーティングとを、
含む請求項14〜18のいずれかに記載の複合体。 - 第1の面と第1の面の反対側に第2の面を有する紙基材と、
紙基材の第1の面上に重なって設けられた、ポリ塩化ビニリデンおよびポリビニルアルコールからなる群から選択されるポリマーを含む、実質的に連続したポリマー層と、
実質的に連続したポリマー層が第1のブロッキング防止層と紙基材との間に配置されるように、実質的に連続したポリマー層上に重なって設けられた第1のブロッキング防止層と、
紙の第2の面上に重なって設けられた、無機微粒子を結合剤中に含むプリント・コーティングと、
プリント・コーティングが第2のブロッキング防止層と紙基材との間に配置されるように、プリント・コーティング上に重なって設けられた第2のブロッキング防止層と、
を含み、
ここで、第1のブロッキング防止層は複合体の第1の面の側における最も外側の層であり、また、第1のブロッキング防止層はポリ塩化ビニリデン、およびコロイドシリカ、ワックス、またはコロイドシリカとワックスとの組合せを含み、また、
第2のブロッキング防止層は複合体の第2の面の側における最も外側の層であり、また、該第2のブロッキング防止層はコロイドシリカ、またはコロイドシリカおよびワックスとからなる
ことを特徴とする複合体。
